Create! Sell! Repeat!
Funded Nov 29, 2022I cannot thank you enough for your donations to our project, "Create! Sell! Repeat!." Your generous donations will make it possible for my students to create their own sublimation products to sell in order to help raise money for extra-curricular activities.
Schools only receive so much funding and the need for extras is often overlooked. While we have a wonderful community, being able to create our own little economy means our community can purchase items in order to help students here rather than just making donations.
Self-reliance is a trait that all young people need to begin learning early. Through this project, my hope is that students will learn to work well with others and make good financial decisions in order to achieve the things they want and desire. You have made this possible for us. I cannot thank you enough.”

Mrs. M.

Funded Oct 22, 2022Teens today love virtual reality, they love to game in virtual reality and use virtual reality all the time with their phones. All students who come into my computer science classes just want to code games. Now I am able to offer my students the opportunity to code their own games in virtual reality. They love incorporating their coding with the Occulus Rift.
My students are using the Occulus Rift to actually run programs they are writing themselves. It is giving my students the perfect opportunity to learn the iterative process coding uses daily.
It also helps my students to maintain focus because they are coding in small increments and are always able to see their progress. We cannot thank you enough for all of your help with this project.”

Earning Our Way to Nationals
Funded Nov 20, 2019Thank you so much for the Durkee 7 in 1 fast easy frames, Magnaglide bobbins, wonder clips, stabilizer, and thread. With your help, we are going to be able to create our own business and raise money for travel to the TSA National Convention in the summer.
My students were so excited to receive the materials that we had to stitch immediately. So we were able to use the frames to put names on Christmas Stockings for our special education students. Our next fundraiser will be lap blankets.
We will also be able to make personalized nameplates for patients at our local nursing home. While we intend to make money with our projects we also want to give back to our community which helps us so much.
As you can clearly tell we are very excited to begin earning our way to nationals.”

Funded Apr 11, 2018You cannot imagine the excitement we felt opening up our new photography studio. We couldn't wait to set it up and play with it. We took some few shots and tried the lights Before we even learned about studio lighting. The experience showed us we had a lot to learn. As you can see in our thanks photos, we didn't even take time to steam out the wrinkles. This experience, which our teacher (tried) to keep from directing us, taught us more in one day than listening to her lectures or even reading online.
We will not be using this as much until fall weather hits and we have to stay indoor to shoot, but with your generosity, we will be able to shoot year round with quality supplies. The light kit and backdrops are going to get a workout when we start shooting Senior Portraits for our students who can't afford to purchase portraits. We are also planning our first Christmas shoot. The possibilities with portraiture are endless and our teacher is on a quest to find even more uses for our projects.
We really would like to just take the time to thank you for your unprecedented generosity. Not many people would help others they know they will never meet. So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts and classrooms. You are making our journey into the world of photography exciting and limitless.”

Tablets to Create Apps for AP Computer Science A
Funded Jul 12, 2018Thank you so much for your donation that afforded us five new Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets. The addition of five tablets means that every student in not only Computer Science but also Mobile App development has the ability to create apps for a variety of purposes. These tablets will help my students to develop algorithmic thinking skills and practice coding problems in a variety of ways.
I never expected the responses from my students to be so incredibly positive. During our first app creation lesson, I had students exclaiming in true delight at the experiences. Common things I heard were, "Mrs. M., come look and see what I did." Or even better yet, "I already finished that part but look what I found out," after students explored on their own. All of my students were engaged fully during the lesson and even more want to practice coding at home. One young lady, who missed the lesson, didn't get to use our exploratory time. She went on to ask if she could come in before or after school to use the new devices and code her own app like the other students. This kind of excitement will bring more young people into coding. Our hope is to increase our coding class size to the extent that we will have to add more classes to our curriculum and these tablets are going to make that possible at our school. It is also helping our female students to see that coding is not just for men.
Once again, thank you so much for your very generous donation to our coding and STEM-related classes at our school. Your support financially makes all of us, students, teachers, and administrators realize that you are in this endeavor with us.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations that enabled us to received a Nikon D3400 dual lens camera kit and a camera bag to carry our new equipment. We are a small school in a rural community. We are blessed to be able to offer our students a photography class. Since we are a small school it means we don't always have everything we need and want for our classes. Now we are able to use a Digital Single Lens Reflex on a regular basis and our students are able to use manual setting to take photographs.
The addition of the Nikon D3400 dual lens camera kits means that we are now able to actually practice our photography in a practical manner on a daily basis. We are able to shoot anything from landscapes to portraits to sports photos. This also means that we are able to edit these photos to create truly artistic representations. As a matter of fact we even have a student whose work has been chosen to hang in the Governor's Art Exhibition his mansion.
Without the help of people like you, we would never have been able to accomplish so much.
Once again, thanks for your donation. You have made many students at our school realize that the future can be brighter through their own hard work and dedication.”

Funded Nov 29, 2017Thank you so much for the mat board cutters and the mat board supplies. My photography students have been learning how to shoot manually with their cameras and have learned how to create an artistic work. Without your support, they would not be able to actually see their work artfully framed. We are now able to create frames with mat board and hang our photographs in a gallery. There is nothing more important in art and photography than presentation. You have made it possible for my students to present their work in a professional manner.
This spring we will be having our first art show in which the mat board and cutter you provided will play an important role. All of the students are thrilled to have a part in such a professional atmosphere and understand it would not have been possible with your help.
Once again, Thank you.”

Mrs. M.
STEMing Our Way to a Brighter Future
Funded Mar 9, 2016Dear DonorsChoose Supporters,
We are proud in saying a warm thank you for what the funds provided have given us. With the introduction of a 3D printer in our coding course, we have expanded from simply one computer science class all the way up to 4. The 3D printer is a huge centralizing point for our coding classes as it allows us to demonstrate code that we have written or modified in a way that makes sense to a wider audience. A large majority of people have a hard time understanding what text on a screen means, and this allows us to project it in a much more interesting and intuitive way.
Students who enroll in coding classes gain the opportunity to create virtually anything with the installment of our printer. It allows students who take the time to understand how coding works to transform their coding knowledge into reality, which has created large excitement about our computer courses and even increased our enrollment dramatically. To expand on this interest in 3D printing, we are allowing our EAST students to create 3D printed objects with the modeling software they handle in the next month to come.
As a result of this, students have become more engaged and interested in coding as it becomes more and more popular in our society today. Due to this increased interest, students have had a larger motivation to be the coding force of future generations.”
