The study of both series and parallel circuits and electromagnetism are required in our sixth grade curriculum. It is always a challenge to find the minimum materials to actually show students what this means. Wouldn't it be great to provide students with hands-on investigations about electricity? When students create their own circuitry and can identify key concepts, this is when science becomes a part of an intrinsic learning experience. It is always exciting to see the "light bulb" turn on and know that students have an understanding of science that will follow them this year and in the school years to come.
