  • Snacks 4 Us

    Funded Dec 14, 2024

Thanks to the generous support from my DonorsChoose project, our classroom now enjoys a steady supply of snacks that have made a significant impact on my special education 8th graders' learning and engagement. These snacks provide essential energy throughout the day, helping students stay focused and attentive during lessons. For many of my students, having access to snacks has transformed their daily experience, allowing them to better manage their energy levels and emotional well-being.

Moreover, the availability of snacks has encouraged social interaction and collaboration among students, fostering a sense of community within the classroom. During breaks, students gather to share snacks and engage in conversations, which enhances their social skills and reinforces teamwork. This initiative has not only improved academic performance but has also contributed to the overall development of my students, making our classroom a more supportive and nurturing environment. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Singleton

  • Snacks 4 Us

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your recent donation to our classroom. Your unwavering support and generosity have truly touched our hearts!

I cannot emphasize enough how much of a difference your donation has made in our classroom. Thanks to your kindness, my students now have the wonderful opportunity to choose from a variety of snacks throughout the day. This seemingly small gesture has had a profound impact on their ability to concentrate and fully engage in their learning. It's amazing to witness the positive effects it has had on their educational journey.

By having the option to enjoy a snack during the day, my students are not only nourishing their bodies but also fueling their minds. This means they can stay focused and energized, allowing them to absorb and retain information more effectively. It's incredible to see their increased participation and the boost in their overall academic performance.

Your support has not only provided my students with a simple pleasure but has also empowered them to take ownership of their learning. They feel valued and cared for, knowing that their well-being is a priority. This, in turn, has created a positive and nurturing classroom environment where they feel safe to express themselves and explore their full potential.

Once again, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your incredible generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Singleton

  • A Little Ink Goes a Long Way!

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your recent donation of ink to our classroom. Your generosity will have a profound impact on our students' learning experience.

With the ink you provided, we can now print projects, charts, and other visual aids that are essential for enhancing our students' understanding and engagement in the classroom. Your donation has opened up a world of possibilities for us, allowing us to create colorful and interactive learning materials that will greatly benefit our students.

By having access to printed resources, our students can better grasp complex concepts, visualize data, and actively participate in discussions. Your contribution will not only support their academic growth but also foster their enthusiasm for learning.

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your commitment to education and for recognizing the importance of providing our students with a well-equipped learning environment. Your generosity has made a significant difference in our classroom, and we are truly grateful for your support.”

  • Supplies, Supplies, Supplies

    Funded Jul 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. Most of my students do not come to school with supplies. They are in constant need of pencils, notebooks, erasers, paper and other supplies to help them throughout the day. Your donation helped provide these necessary supplies to our students. The supplies also gave us decorations to our classroom and alternative seating so that our classroom feels more like a home. The class is now extremely inviting and they feel comfortable when they come to my class and focus on their learning.”

  • Just Chill

    Funded Aug 1, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind donation to our classroom. Our classroom does not have access to water. Your donation helped bring cold water to my students. The refrigerator helps us store snacks and water so that our students are able to have access to these things in my classroom. My students are constantly asking for water and snacks during class. When they saw the refrigerator and the water they were so excited because they were able to store their snacks. Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. We really appreciate it.”

  • Snacks for All

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind donations. Your snacks could not have come at a better time. Unfortunately, one of our students passed away. This has been a difficult time for the students and the staff. The snacks you donated were given out to the students in their time of need. The students were happy that they were able to eat their favorite snacks and talk to their classmates during this sad time. We really appreciate your generous gift and donation to our classroom. My students as well as myself really appreciate it. Thank you.”

Thank you so much for making my classroom a place that my students can call home. You have helped me create a welcoming environment where my students feel safe to be themselves. The bounce balls are a big hit. They all love using them and it helps my students focus on their work. All of the decorations helps bring my classrooms together and makes for a relaxing/calm environment. My students now say we have the best classroom in the school and it's all thanks yo your support. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • Hydration Station

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

Thank you do much for your donation to our classroom. My student's are always stating that they are thirsty. Unfortunately we do not have working water fountain in our room. They can only get water during their lunch time. Having water bottles in my room helps keep my student's hydrated. They do not have to think about when lunch is because they are thirsty. They can now take a water bottle if they are thirsty. MY students are so appreciative for your donation to our classroom. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • Snacking All The Way!

    Funded Jan 1, 2023

Thank you so much for the amazing snacks for my classroom. My students are consistently complaining about being hungry and not being able to make it to lunch or the end of the day. These snacks have kept my students focused on their work instead of focusing on being hungry. When they saw the new snacks they were extremely excited. My student's are now able to take a snack when they need it. They no longer have to wait and stay hungry all day. Now my students are more active in our lesson. This is because they are now more awake. Thank you again for your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Singleton

Special education can be challenging but extremely rewarding, mainly if you teach in the Bronx. My students come from a predominately low-income area and come from single-family households. Ninety-nine percent of my students receive free or reduced-price lunches based on their socio-economic backgrounds, and twenty-five percent of those students are special needs. My students face many problems in our neighborhood, such as a lack of proper funding for books and other essential needs, growing up in a high crime, high poverty neighborhood, and a culture that doesn't emphasize a vital education. My students are highly energized and visual learners. They love working on computers and using technology.
