A Little Bit of This and That!
Funded Nov 21, 2018Thanks to your help, we were able to create the most amazing Christmas gifts for our families! We loved making cards, directed drawings and other gifts. We even made presents for the support staff at our school. It was great fun to watch their faces when we presented them with our own artwork.
The paint sticks are amazing! Our paintings dry almost as soon as we finish them. The best part us that we do not have to wait until the next day to take them home!
You have helped make our classroom fun!
Thank you!”

A Million Reasons to Read!
Funded Nov 17, 2018We had so much fun meeting a famous author! David M Schwartz was awesome. His program was engaging and exciting. He read from some of our favorite books. We even got to see what 1,00,000 pieces of popped popcorn looked like!
We loved riding the school bus over to the high school (about 2 miles away!) Some of us had never ridden a school bus before. The highlight was receiving the books we had chosen, personalized and autographed. We will keep these books forever!
Thank you for providing me and my students this priceless experience. We will treasure it forever.”

Christmas With the Pirates Part 2
Funded Sep 30, 2018Ahoy Matey!
We loved becoming pirates last week on our field trip to watch (and participate in) the Christmas Show at Pirates Voyage. For many of our students, it was their first trip to Myrtle Beach. It was a wonderful day.
The photos attached do not really show you how amazing the set is. We were on the top row so we see see all of the action. The audience is divided into two teams - the red pirates or the blue pirates. We were on the red pirates team. All during the show pirates from each side competed against each other. Winners were decided by the applause and cheers of the audience. It is no surprise that our team won!
The story-line was the well known story of A Christmas Carol. It included Scrooge, the three ghosts of Christmas and culminated with a beautiful nativity scene. Thank you for providing our students such a memorable experience.”

Funded Oct 11, 2018My girls are loving the new K'Nex sets! They love the that the themes are geared just for them. But that doesn't mean they do not share with the boys, together do! Recently, during center time, these sets are the first to be claimed. I have even let some of the students who are crushed when center time 3nds, save their structures to be worked on rather next day.
Some students are intent on studying the picture to try to replicate it exactly while others are happy for the chance to express their individuality. Either way, I am amazed by the diligence and creativity.
Thank you for bring these awesome sets to my students. You ROCK!”

Funded Sep 12, 2018Thank you so much for the DUPLO sets. We love having the animal sets. The community set allows us to add people to our play. We have built zoos, farms, animal shelters, and pet stores. We take care of these animals just as we would care for real pets and zoo animals. We have also learned many interesting facts about animals on the way.
We are still waiting to complete our service learning project. We will be raising money for our local animal shelter. We know how important it is to help these abandoned animals to find their forever homes. We make sure our classroom stories all have happy endings.”

Funded May 23, 2018We love our new portable speaker system. Our parents love it even more! Now, when we sing at programs, they can actually hear us. Our PE teacher uses it outside for us to exercise to. It is awesome. We can hear the music all over the PE field.
We probably enjoy the portable speaker system the most on Fun Fridays. That is when we can cash in our Paws Points for a dance party with our friends. We are practicing The Turkey Wobble to perform for the entire school next week during The Teacher Olympics. Being able to hear the music outside will really help.
Thanks again for supporting students in rural South Carolina.”

Funded Oct 26, 2018Thank you for making our second Family Literacy Night a huge success! We did not have as many families as we had hoped for last night but I think the cold, rainy weather played a part. The families that did participate had a ball!
Mrs. Tanner, our Literacy Coach, modeled reading a book to the students and asking appropriate questions so the parents could learn how to make story time more meaningful at home. She also introduced the parents to some free reading apps that could be used at home. Next up was Mrs. Adams, the newest (and youngest) addition to our kindergarten team. She walked the parents through accessing Study Island from home. Study Island is a great resource offered by our district but getting parents to take advantage of it is a challenge.
Finally, the BIG moment the students had been awaiting arrived! Each child attending was able to choose two books to take home. We had walked our students through the room earlier in the day so most knew exactly which books they wanted. Each child also received a tote bag to keep their books in. They were so excited. I wish I could show pictures of their smiles. Trust me, your heart would burst to know you helped play a part.
Again I say, thank you.”

Funded Apr 13, 2018Thank you for the Flex-Space Collaborative Floor Space Bundle. We love having options of where to sit to complete our work. Sitting on the floor in comfy chairs is a welcome change from traditional tables and chairs. Our classroom offers us several different options for flexible seating. You may find us at tables with wobble stools or mushroom seats. You could find us on the floor with a cushion or a floor chair. With your help, we are learning to make choices. We are also learning about sharing and raking turns.

Funded Jul 6, 2018Oh my goodness! I wish you could have been here yesterday to the pure delight on 24 precious faces when we open two HUGE boxes filled with books. The children were so excited, you would have thought it was Christmas morning.
Sadly, many of my students do not have books at home. They could not believe they would have a chance to choose books to keep FOREVER! Many of these books are classics, such as Corduroy and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Other books include grade appropriate reading levels, well-known authors and high interest topics.
Each student will receive two new books at out Family Literacy Night as well as a new book each month. They will also receive a book on their birthday and other special occasions.
Thank for making this possible.”
