Headphones for Focused Mathematicians
Funded Oct 13, 2024Thank you so much for giving my students these essential 21st century classroom tools! It seems funny, but headphones have truly become a necessary classroom material. My students will be relieved to be able to access language supports and differentiated digital learning materials on their computers in our classroom. Much appreciation for your generous contribution.”

6th Grade Mathematicians Deserve Great Class Materials
Funded Aug 25, 2024I’m super grateful for your generosity in funding this project. And right in time for the start of the school year, too! My students will greatly benefit from your contributions and will feel thankful for the ways in which the materials they use will be relevant to their lives. Thanks again!”

Math Manipulatives for 6th Grade Mathematicians
Funded Nov 11, 2022I've now been teaching with these materials for two years and the impact of this DonorsChoose project is still very much being felt. The cuisenaire rods and algebra tiles help my students to visualize and compute fractional quantities in ways that would've otherwise been very difficult to achieve.
Additionally, the classroom materials have leveled the playing field for my students and ensured that everybody has the same resources for learning and growing. The games provide differentiated supports for students who need extra rote practice, but in an enjoyable and socially encouraged way.
Thank you!”

Supplies for 6th Grade Mathematicians
Funded Feb 8, 2023Thank you so much for your support of my students. They have been making excellent use of the materials that you helped to purchase.
Frankly, I'm not sure what I would have done without the use of the wooden three-dimensional shape models that were provided through this project. Letting students hold and count (edges, vertices, etc.) on the physical shapes was a game-changer when exploring geometry in our most recent unit. Our incredible mathematicians were able to take that experience and extend it to more representational models much more easily as a result.
While there could never be enough pencils in a middle school classroom (and all sorts of other supplies), you all helped me get through the year. THANK YOU!”

Mr. Gore
3rd and 4th Grade Mathematicians and Readers Need Materials
Funded Aug 12, 2021So sorry I never reported out about this project. After receiving these donated materials, I got to stay teaching my second graders--a welcome return! But don't worry--many of the things in this project were directly applicable to learning for my second graders, too. And those things that weren't were gifted to a new 3rd grade teacher at my school. Everything was enjoyed and used thoroughly!
The headphones made a huge impact in our ability to use technology in class without bothering others around us and the wide range of school supplies and books were amazing. Our scholars don't always get brand new things to use in school, so it was incredibly exciting for them to take the plastic wrap off a brand new game and crease the binding of an amazing new culturally-responsive book.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Funded Mar 16, 2021It has been extraordinarily exciting to share all of these incredible books with my incredible scholars. Thanks to you, I'm able to share read-alouds that are engaging and culturally relevant to the diverse population of students in my classroom. Thanks to you, these deserving scholars have plenty of exciting books to choose from, at a variety of reading levels, to help them grow as readers.
These books are being used every day. They're (politely) fought over and cherished.
Thank you so very much, on behalf of my students, present and future, who will benefit from your kind gift.”

Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you so much for your contribution. The impact you've had has been immeasurable. I can't even imagine what teaching virtually this year would have been if it hadn't been for the resources we were able to provide to each of our deserving scholars, all thanks to you. Every single day they've opened up their bins (thanks to you) and pulled out their journals (thanks to you) and school supplies (thanks to you) and math manipulatives (thanks to you!) Each day they've sat at home or in daycare and been able to participate with many of the same tools that would've otherwise only been accessible in their classroom. I'm immensely appreciative.”

Funded Apr 7, 2019My students and I are beyond excited about the books in our classroom library and the extent to which the wide range of cultures in my classroom are represented in these books. Every day students 'shop' from the library and discover a new book that entrances them and drives them to become better readers.
Just yesterday, one of my students exclaimed, "I like these Sofia books so much because she speaks Spanish AND English, just like me!" Another student remarked recently about how a character in another new book lives alone with his mom in an apartment--the same as this student! He noted that this was the first book he'd seen that showed a family like his--a Black family in a single parent home within an urban community.
Representation is IMPORTANT. Thank you for helping to make this happen in my classroom. I'm grateful and my incredibly deserving students are, too.”

Engaging 2nd Grade Scholars in Math and Literacy!
Funded Aug 2, 2018It feels, in some ways, like our year has just begun, and yet we've already accomplished so much. This growth and excitement around learning that my students are experiencing has been possible, in no small part, thanks to your support of our classroom. The materials that you provided are instrumental in meeting these scholars' everyday needs and helping challenge them at an appropriate level in order for them to meet high expectations for their achievement. We haven't even broken out many of the games that were given, but some of the early favorites and most used ones are the Tiny Polka Dot sets (for math) and Quiddler, Jr. (for word study/literacy.) Thank you, sincerely, for your kindness.”

Supporting All Kids to Focus in Our Classroom
Funded May 22, 2017My students and I are extremely grateful for your generous contributions toward making our classroom one that supports all of us to be our best learners. We've now been using these materials for parts of two school years and I've personally seen the positive difference these fidgets, noise-canceling headphones, and other invaluable tools have had on the ability of my students to stay focused and maximize learning time.
The FootFidget foot rests have had a particularly meaningful impact and are super solid pieces of equipment that will hopefully last for many more years and many more squirrelly feet! The students who use them frequently tell me how much it helps them ignore behaviors around them and focus their attention.
Thanks again. You are amazing to support our classroom.”

Mr. Gore
