Time for Kids. Time to Achieve.
Funded Nov 29, 2017My students, their families and I thank you for your generous donation. Time for Kids has gotten my students excited about reading and current events. Since we began receiving TFK a few weeks back they can't wait to dive into the magazine. They walk into my classroom every Monday morning asking if the new issue arrived. They not only love reading the cover story, but enjoy discussing the articles. I believe that including TFK as part of my literacy curriculum and seeing how much my students enjoy using it will have an impact in their academic success this year.”

Learning to Tell Time!
Funded Nov 15, 2017We just finished our telling time unit and what a difference each student having his/her watch to practice with has made! Based on our last standard quiz, 100% of my students can now tell time in hours and half hour, and a little over 80% can tell time to the nearest five and one minute. Thank you! I couldn't have done it without your generosity.
As a teacher it is so rewarding to no longer hear students asking when will it be lunch or gym or snack time—their favorite times of the day!-because they can figure that out on their own. Now they are my timekeepers! I randomly call on students throughout the day to tell me the time, or assign them the job of keeping track of time when they are working with their partners/groups without having to put a timer up. Soon, they'll be able to take them home and show their families.”

Dry-Erase Teaching Easel!
Funded Jul 17, 2017My students and I greatly appreciate you for helping to bring this easel into our classroom. It has made all the difference! It is where I teach new skills, where I model how to apply those skills and where my students show the rest of their classmates what they've learned. The easel being magnetic has been extremely useful as well as it has allowed me to use magnetic manipulative such as counters to make arrays during multiplication lessons, and base ten blocks during adding and subtraction lessons.”

Funded Jul 17, 2017My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The carpet is great. It's big enough where everyone of my students can sit comfortably on it, and its brightness gives our classroom a welcoming, homely feeling. It is wonderful having it during our whole group lessons as all of my students sit learning the days objective and practicing it before going off on their own. They love laying on the carpet during independent reading time or to complete their work. This carpet is the heart of our classroom.”

Funded May 5, 2017Thank you for bringing the binding machine and necessary supplies into our classroom. We have used the machine in our classroom and for the entire school. With the machine I created a Reading Record Books for all of my students. In addition, my principal loved it so much that I ended up creating one for all of the 1st-5th grade students in our school. My next project is to create a multiplication times tables review booklet for all my students to help them practice memorizing all their facts.”

Chromebooks For All! pt. 3
Funded Mar 31, 2017My students and I are so thankful for your contribution to our classroom. This month, with the aid of the ChromeBooks, I was able to successfully implement language arts centers into our weekly routine. The second day of ELA centers, my students cheered when they saw it on the schedule. One center is on the ChromeBooks where my English Language Leaners learn phonics skills and practice fluency by listening to books and the rest of my students take quizzes on books they have finished reading.
The ChromeBooks have also opened up the opportunity for conversations about digital citizenship. Fourth and fifth graders need to learn how to be safe, respectful, and responsible with technology. My students are learning why it is important to use the programs asked of them instead of whatever they choose which helps them stay safe in a digital world. My class is also strengthening their computer skills. Some students have gotten to type their essays and other have used them to conduct research.”

Funded Mar 18, 2017Thank you so very much for your generous support of my brilliant students! They were absolutely thrilled to receive the giant box of high-quality pencils (they were super impressed to discover that the pencils were pre-sharpened!), erasers, and dry-erase markers! We now have plenty of materials, which makes learning so much smoother and more fun!
We have been working on argumentative writing lately. The pencils and markers were absolutely instrumental in this process! We literally could not have done it without you!”

Essential Brain Fuel During Testing Time! Part II
Funded Mar 30, 2017Thank you for supporting my students! State exams are always a stressful time for them, but luckily this time around they had some great healthy snacks (brain boosters as they called them) to help them do their best. I made them snack bags for each day with a motivational message and they loved it. We had them right before the exam started and it gave them the energy and confidence boost they needed. They expressed how lucky they felt to have amazing people care about them and believe in them enough to send them snacks.”
