  • Social-Emotional Books!

    Funded Aug 27, 2020

Thank you for donating to our project. Students have really enjoyed the new Social Emotional books that were purchased and added to our classroom library. We are currently reading one new book a week and then having class discussions and activities centered around the social emotional skill demonstrated in each book.

Students are talking about their worries during this pandemic. They love sharing what they have done to try to overcome some of these difficulties. We have also completed artwork to share after reading these books.

These books have really helped the children realize that we are all in this pandemic together and that there are many different places and things to do in order to alleviate some of our problems.

Thank you for donating to our Social and Emotional learning library!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keller

  • Happy Home Readers!

    Funded Apr 30, 2020

Thank you so much again for donating to my project. My students are going to be so excited when they return to the classroom so that they can actually take the home readers home and read them with their family.

I currently have the home readers ready to go home with students in one location. Students will check out new books each week and be able to practice reading books on their just right level. I am so excited to have these materials available to share with my students.

The books are anxiously awaiting the students return after the pandemic. They are located in my classroom library in bags ready to be checked out.

Again, thank you so much for making this dream become a reality!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keller

  • Culturally Diverse Classroom Library

    Funded May 6, 2020

My students will benefit tremendously thanks to your generous donations that helped make our dream become a reality. You can never have too many books in the classroom. Students will love the availability of the culturally diverse text that are now available in our classroom library! We will definitely be reading these books on a daily basis in small groups, whole group, and individually. The lessons that students learn from these new books will help them better understand the world they live in. Thank you so much for helping out dream become a reality!”

  • Beginning Books for 2nd Graders!

    Funded May 29, 2020

The new books that have been purchased for our classroom are amazing, especially during this unprecedented time of the national pandemic. Students are struggling to read because of this pandemic, and now with the addition of these beginning books, my students have more resources available to them, right at their fingertips.

Every day we meet in small groups for reading and when a student is not meeting with me, he is reading independently. With the addition of these new beginner books, students are able to read more material independently because there are now more books for struggling readers available in our classroom library. Students will love the opportunity to have a larger selection to choose from when they are reading to self. With this text on the student's just right level, he will be actively engaged in his learning because he can read and understand this simpler text.

I thought that my struggling readers would love these books the most, but it turns out that all students love to read these books because they are interesting and easy for most to understand. All children can be successful when reading these books.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keller

  • Graphics for Reading!

    Funded Apr 30, 2020

I can't begin to thank you enough for putting more graphic novels in the hands of my students. Children love to read graphic novels. You can hear students discussing the text of many different graphic novels. For some reason, this type of novel grabs the attention of young readers. Maybe it is the illustrations that accompany the text. Students practice many new reading skills as they are reading books of interest. Comprehension is a skill that many 2nd grade students struggle with, but when they are reading graphic novels, this skill seems to come more easily. I think it is because the students are actively engaged in their reading. During independent reading, students can be found sitting in the classroom library, laying on the floor, or sitting in a just right comfortable spot in the classroom reading self selected books. The new graphic novels provide an interesting and engaging resource for students to pick up and read during free time and reading time. Again, thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom library and helping students become self driven learners!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keller

  • Write a Plenty!

    Funded Jul 29, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation to help make our dreams become a reality! We love our new resources. Students are using the dry erase boards as we continue on our Virtual learning path during Virtual meetings with our classmates. We use these boards each and every day during math and reading. Students love the opportunity to write on the boards and they help keep the students actively engaged.

Students will love the polka dot clipboards when they return to the classroom because they will allow the students to work from virtually anywhere in the classroom. For some reason, students love to use clipboards when they are writing. This keeps them actively engaged in their own learning.

Again, thank you for helping to support my students!”

  • Chromebook to the Touch

    Funded Jan 18, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations to help our class receive a Touch Chromebook for our classroom. Students were very excited when I told them that we were going to receive a new Chromebook. They could not believe that we were going to have a Chromebook with a touch screen just like their tablets that they have at home. With the addition of this touch screen Chromebook students now have the ability to utilize the computer much like their tablets that they have at home. It was a challenge at first for students to understand that they only had to touch the screen in order for the mouse to activate. Now, all of the students want touch screen Chromebooks. They assured me that it would be much better because they were already familiar with the screen and wouldn't be confused by moving the mouse. We use the Chromebook every day as we work throughout the school day. During the day students read, write, and solve math problems on their computers. We also play many educational games and the students love that challenge. Technology helps keep students engaged in their learning and they also find it very rewarding when they have finished a project and can share with our group. Thank you again for your donation to bring more technology into our classroom!”

  • Crazy 4 Chromebooks!

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Students were so excited to receive our materials. They could hardly wait for the boxes to be opened and the technology to be updated and work on our school wifi. Students use the technology every day during our reading, writing, and math block. During reading, students can read or have books read to them with the help of this new technology. During math block, we often times learn and practice new skills on Moby Max and Prodigy. We also use them for writing and publishing new pieces students have written. With the help of these new pieces of technology, students are able to have more time with hands on activities to improve skills learned in the classroom. One of my students favorite things to do is to play games with their classmates like Kahoot, Quizizz, and Quizlet. We also utilize Google classroom in our classroom. We are so very appreciative to have new technology in our classroom!”
