Crayola for Art
Funded Mar 13, 2020I wanted to deeply express my gratitude for your donations to our classroom. Your donation will leave a lasting impact on my students, and we are going to have a well-supplied year in our art classroom. I am thankful that you chose to help us fulfill our needs, and cannot wait to utilize the materials in the classroom this upcoming year. The supplies are going to replace the old scissors that did not cut very well, and will provide crayons, colored pencils, and markers for us to create amazing projects this year.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Daluisio
George Washington Meets the Graphic Novel
Funded Aug 23, 2018I want to thank you for the gift of graphic novels for my students. As you may know, I teach in a very diverse district where language can become an intense barrier to learning. A graphic novel breaks that barrier and allows for students of many languages engage on a topic and to understand better what is being described.
These graphic novels are exciting for us as they connect the students together into one community instead of splitting them into groups of who understands English and who does not. This bridges that gap and encourages students with limited English skills to participate in learning.
In my room I am finally able to see students engaged in their readings, and that their comprehension has increased significantly. Often many prescribed novels are at a reading level much higher than the average of my class, these graphic novels bring the topic back down to an appropriate reading level for the students I am teaching. This, in turn, creates excitement in the students since they know they will be able to read and understand the text, instead of being confused by what is being stated.
I want to thank you again for your caring generosity. Your gift will be cherished, loved, and utilized.”
