Technology for an Emotional Disturbance Special Education Classroom
Funded Dec 20, 2016Thank you so much for your donation! My students do not have access to technology at home. With technology in the classroom, I have been able to supplement my classroom instruction and differentiate. My students are excited when they get to use the Chromebooks, and I truly feel that they academically benefit from them.
One student, in particular, has truly benefited from using a Chromebook in the classroom. This student came in with far below grade level math skills. He barely knew his numbers and could not fluently add, even though he is a fifth grader. Through the use of technology, I have used a program called Prodigy that these students LOVE. They are so motivated to do well in the game. Therefore, they pay full attention during lessons and try their best during math rotations. This student in particular has drastically improved.
Thank you so much for your help!!!”

Cooling Down To Achieve Success
Funded Nov 17, 2016Thank you so much for your help and support! The "Cool Down" wall has been so helpful in my classroom. It has been perfect for my students who get upset frequently and need a space away from the rest of the class. For example, one of my students was upset at another student who kept distracting him. Usually, this student walks out of the classroom. When I finally taught him to use this tool, he walked to the Cool Down area instead of leaving.
My students were extremely confused about what this wall was for. But now, we are all extremely thankful for it. Without this, I know that I would have a much more difficult time with behavior management and that my students would have a very hard time calming down.
Thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ventura
