  • Power of a Positive Team

    Funded Aug 7, 2020

We are so truly grateful for your generous donation to our project. It's so important as educators that we can continue to grow and learn ourselves. We used this book to initiate a book study on our campus that 15 teachers and administrators participated in.

As you probably are aware, this has been an overwhelming year in education. This project helped us as a campus work on how we can be more positive in our interactions with each other and our students. Because of your generosity we have a happy, positive place to work this year. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Making Math

    Funded May 28, 2020

We are truly grateful for your generous donation to our project! Math is such a fundamental skill and in First Grade we are definitely trying to lay that foundation with the basics. These resources will allow my students to use hands-on practice in learning these skills.

My students were so excited when they saw the boxes arrive and couldn't wait to dive in and "play" with their math games. They LOVE being able to count and add using resources that make learning fun for them.

Your kindness really touched my students. They couldn't believe someone who never met them would help them like that. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Help Our Reluctant Readers

    Funded Nov 12, 2020

We are so grateful for the generous donation you made to our project. I have had so many students asking me if we will continue our graphic novel club this year-they love it! Now we can, because of your gift of books. The kids were so excited to open the boxes and see all the new books!

Even our most reluctant readers like this kind of book! Lots of pictures to help students who are even new to English to understand. You have helped us make our students better readers. Some of them even want to write books now because of your inspiring gift. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Books to Inspire My Students to Get Involved

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

I cannot even articulate how excited my students were to find out this project had been funded. Especially with everything going on in the world today-I want them to be inspired to grow up and fight for change. Changes to help their communities and changes to help increase the equity in our society. These books were about inspirational historical figures who did just that. They had the courage to stand up and fight for what they deserve and that's exactly what I want for my students.

They not only LOVED hearing the stories, but we also have planned a social justice themed wax museum for when things get back closer to normal. Each student will dress up as one of the figures they read about and give a speech about the influence they had on their communities. They have already begun working on their backdrops.

Their personal favorite is Dream Drum Girl which is about a very determined girl in Cuba who shook mores to become a drummer, when it was only an acceptable path for boys. We have read it numerous times now.

We are truly grateful for your generous donations. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

  • A Passion for Reading

    Funded Jun 29, 2020

Thank you so much for helping us make our project come to life! The students were so excited to receive their books and they couldn't believe someone who never met them would donate to their class.

We read the books every day and students check books out to read with their families. Their reading skills are already improving simply because they have access to these resources.

We are so thankful for your generosity and kindness. This is definitely a project that will continue to make an impact with my young students. You helped us instill a passion for reading in them that will hopefully last a lifetime!”

  • Social Justice Matters

    Funded Apr 14, 2020

This project meant a lot to me and to my students-we were so excited to find out it was funded! With everything going on in the world today I want to inspire my students to get involved and stand up for what they need. These books were people from history who did just that and it inspires our future generation to care about the world around them.

We read the stories and made backdrops to perform in a virtual wax museum. The parents and the students loved how everything came out. We could not have done it without your help and generosity. We are truly, truly grateful for your donations to our project.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

  • Reading--To Be Continued

    Funded May 5, 2020

When our boxes of books arrived the students literally cheered! My kiddos are growing up in an area of low economic development and most just do not have books to read. You helped me get books into their hands and many of them read the books with their families. They felt so grateful to have resources at their fingertips.

Your kindness and generosity was truly appreciated. Reading is such an important skill and we are laying the foundation to create passionate readers. You definitely helped us do that.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • School-Wide Read Aloud

    Funded Mar 4, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to our project. We recieved the books and each class this year will read the books together. Siblings will be able to discuss the stories with each other and all classes will be able to have deep discussions regarding the characters.

This story will also foster empathy in our students. Over 800 students will benefit from yoru kindness. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! What an amazing example of generosity for our students.

    We are truly grateful.”

  • Diversity Matters

    Funded Mar 2, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for making our project come to life! I believe it is so important for our students to see themselves reflected in the books we read in our classroom. The students were overjoyed to see all the exciting titles. They loved reading about Mili standing up for herself in Dream Drum Girl and Dancing Hands about an immigrant who played for Abraham Lincoln. They have many new favorites. The books have been so inspiring to my little ones!

We are so grateful for your generosity. You have helped make my Kinder students very happy. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.”

  • Starry, Starry Students

    Funded Apr 15, 2019

We cannot thank you enough for the donation to our class for art supplies. Art is one of those subjects that often gets cuts from budgets because it's not tested with standardized tests. But I believe art gives students a way to learn how to be creative and even those kiddos for whom English is a second language can find a way to express themselves.

We have painted our self-portraits. We made papier-mache earths and fall trees using the tissue paper and paint. The students were really excited to create art and you helped give me a way to make learning fun for my students.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are truly grateful for your kindness and support of our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Trayers

One day my student asked me a question and I answered "well,l when I'm at work...." and she interrupted me and said you work???" I don't see teaching as a "job" and I'm glad my students have that same vision. Our students are curious, bright, precocious Kindergarteners. They come to school every day with a smile on their face ready to learn. We teach them reading, math and the basics as well as empathy, citizenship and social skills. I want to ensure that my students have everything they need to be successful.
