  • 3, 2, 1, Parachute!

    Funded Feb 12, 2012

Thank you for your generous donations to this project! My class has really enjoyed using the red jumping ball, and the magical ribbon dancing wands. The Frisbee was such a hit with the kids, and they love running around the playground trying to catch it. They have spent so much time trying to master the Frisbee and throw it independently! The parachute is without a doubt the favorite of the lot, and has brought a lot of joy to my students. They LOVE sitting under it and watching it move around them. Thank you so much for your help with this project! ”

  • Leaping Ahead And Learning To Read!

    Funded Feb 12, 2012

Thank you all for your generous donations to this project! The books in this project were already favorite class wide favorites, and so they were received! When they realized that using the tag readers would allow them to read their favorite stories independently, they were even more excited! The addition of the Leapfrog Tag Reader system has allowed my students to access their favorite stories in new ways as well. They love using their favorite books to play games, and learn new words. It has become some of my students favorite thing to play with.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hayes

  • Alphabet Abacus

    Funded Dec 14, 2011

Thank you so much for your donations to this project. Your support has made new technology available to my students and we are very grateful! The students love our "mini laptop" it is just the right size for their little hands and fingers! They have been able to access learning websites such as PBS KIDS, and they are loving it!

The donation of the speakers has given us the opportunity to play movies and music from our classroom "teacher computer" as well. We do not have a DVD player, and so DVDs can only be accessed through the use of a computer, but the speakers were not loud enough before for everyone to hear. Now that we have detached speakers everyone can hear what we are listening to and sing along! It has been very exciting.

    Thank you again!”

  • Biking Our Way To Success!

    Funded Dec 16, 2011

Words can not express how excited my preschoolers were when we received our two new bikes! Before we were only able to use bikes at school on Fridays, when we would borrow them from our kindergarten friends, but now we get to ride bikes every day! The excitement increased just yesterday when we finally received our last shipment of our much anticipated scooter! All my students love moving around on the bikes and "racing" their friends.

I had not anticipated how much growth these bikes would bring to my students. Not only are they becoming more coordinated and adept at maneuvering the bikes, they are also becoming better turn takers. They created a system of forming and line and waiting for their turn on a bike. They are able to follow this system and routine of turn taking without any adult support. This was not the case before the bikes arrived, turn taking very much involved teacher help. We are very impressed!

    Thank you so much!”

  • Take Us On a Magic Carpet Ride!

    Funded Dec 12, 2011

Thank you so much for your donations! The carpet was very well received by the students in my classroom. They were thrilled to finally have a soft and inviting space to sit on during story times and group learning. The children love finding the letters on the carpet and identifying them. Music is one of our favorite activities in our class. My students love using the finger castanets and the Boomwhacker percussion tubes. The additions really have brought new life to our music center! The improvement in drawing and fine motor abilities has been a wonderful sight to see after the donation of the floor level whiteboard. Our class whiteboard was too high for my preschoolers to access, and the floor level one is just right!

Thanks for all the new experiences you have given my preschoolers! They are so grateful!”

  • Pretzel Parade

    Funded Dec 16, 2011

Thank you so much for your donations to our project! The class was so excited about having pretzels and popcorn as snacks while at school. They have been practicing their language skills each day, and the addition of the snacks starting with the P sound has given them the opportunity and motivation to practice making this sometimes difficult sound. In addition to practicing language, the students also take turns passing the snacks out to the other students in the class and are working on their social skill development.

Everyone adores the hand sanitizer. We are learning so much about how staying clean helps to keep us healthy!

Thank you again! We love Donorschoose.org and all the donors!”

  • A Sensational Experience!

    Funded Dec 11, 2011

I am so grateful for your generous donations to my Special Day Class Preschool classroom! The ls donated materials were eagerly anticipated and put to use right away! The bean bags have provided my students with a safe and comfortable spot to sit when they are feeling overwhelmed by our busy early childhood education environment. The chairs are also great to sit on while working on a project that takes place on the floor, like block play.

The light table could not be more of a hit! The children were excited about the translucent toys, and the work space the new table provided, but when we turned on the light for the first time their eyes lit up instantly! Some of the students said, "Whoa!" There is so much learning taking place in this new environment that you have so graciously provided.”

  • Handwriting Without Tears

    Funded Dec 4, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our project. The new writing materials have been a highlight in our classroom. The students are so excited to finally have a designated writing center, full of supplies just for them. The Table Top Organizer has been the perfect set up for all our our new materials.

The students in my class have taken a great interest in working on prewriting skills such as tracing, coloring, and copying lines. They have certainly enjoyed having a variety of materials to choose from, but their favorites are by far the ABC White Boards and the magnet Large Gel Writing Boards. They love having their own dry erase markers (aka "teacher markers").

Once again, thank you very much! We have had the supplies for a little less than a month now, and I have already noticed an improvement in fine motor skills. Your donations have made this all possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hayes

Our class is a Pre-K for students between the ages of 3-5 with special needs. Their disabilities differ, but most are placed on the Autism spectrum. We are located on an elementary school campus and are the only Pre-K in the district. My students have their days, planned full of interventions, assessments and therapy sessions. They are all such little troopers that face great difficulties daily. When they come to school, I want them to be excited and happy. School should be challenging, but there's no reason it can't also be fun! Despite their disabilities, the students in my classroom are just like any other preschooler. They love coming to school and exploring their environment in hands-on ways. We love music, dancing, and art (especially the messy kind!), but our favorite time of the day is story time! If you were to visit our classroom, you would probably be introduced to our favorite book, "Pete the Cat," within the first five minutes of your arrival (probably sooner!).
