The Year the Classroom Became Virtual
Funded Jul 17, 2020I can't thank you enough for what you helped bring to my virtual classroom this year. It was already hard enough to figure out how to manage teaching a classroom full of 5-6 year olds online. The items you funded for my class this year has made teaching a lot easier and more engaging for my class.
The product that students seem to find more exciting over Zoom is the document reader. They were so interested to see how I was showing my workbook or notebook on Zoom. They have the prior knowledge of the document reader that's used in the classroom if they were in school last year so they were able to understand that concept.
Thankfully, most of my students have warmed up to this new way of learning. They seem to all be eager to go into the actual classroom at school though, as am I. But for now, we're all so thankful for the items we can use through Zoom. Thank you again for your generosity!!”

Learning Is Best When It's Fun!
Funded Mar 8, 2017Thank you very much for your generous donation in helping make my students more engaged in the classroom! They were so excited when we opened the box with our new items. When we were able to use them, they were even more excited.
I used both activities for centers so my students can work independently while I was working on assessments for individual students. They made the math puzzle cards into a game by trying to find the match the fastest or teaming up with a partner to find the most matches. They especially love the smart pencils because they are challenged but are still having fun. It really helps that they hear the electronic voice telling them the sounds or words they point to on the cards.
You have really helped make an impact on all of my students and they are very appreciative of your donation. They even said, "Tell your family and friends, 'Thank you!!'"
So, again, thank you very much!”

Mrs. Smith
Little Things Mean A Lot To These Kids
Funded Nov 29, 2014When I told my students that we were getting these new things in the class, they were all so excited. When we go the boxes at school, several of them guessed what was in the boxes. Each and every one of them had smiles on their faces as I was opening the boxes. One student even said, "It's like Christmas!"
We have definitely been able to use the pencil sharpener in our class almost every day. I created a pencil monitor job so pencils can be sharpened towards the end of the day. Recently, the pencil sharpener got a little jammed so I decided to not have that as a job anymore and just sharpen the pencils myself in order to keep the pencil sharpener working for a longer period of time. There is a very apparent difference that sharpened pencils make when writing. Most students' handwriting is more legible now that we have sharp pencils.
The word spacers have created a funner way for students to remember to leave spaces in between every word when writing. There were even a couple of students who don't necessarily need the word spacers but wanted to use them anyway in case they forget to include spaces.
The easel has been great to use for its magnetic purposes. I am now able to rotate centers using magnets as opposed to using tape on my non-magnetic whiteboard. I have also been able to use the easel when reading big books to students. It was difficult to have to hold big books while reading to the class so now that I can clip the big book on the easel, it is a lot better for the class since they can see the pages for easily.
These three generous additions to Room 3 has definitely been one of the highlights of this school year so far. I and my entire class is very thankful!!”
