Thank you for your generous donation to our school program. Our Butterfly & Gardening club has grown immensely over the years, and has been making a huge impact on the students. • 21st Century Skills In After School Clubs!

    Funded Oct 15, 2024

Effective afterschool programs provide learning settings that bring a wide range of benefits to youth, families, and communities. Afterschool programs support social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health, and provide a safe and supportive environment for our children and youth.

We have noticed improved social and emotional competencies, including prosocial behavior, intrinsic motivation, better concentration efforts, and higher sense of self-worth. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

Thank you for being part of that positive change in our community!”

  • Cozy Classroom Vibes

    Funded Aug 10, 2024

Our classroom vibe was an inspiration to all who entered. Students are excited to come to school, and feel comfortable in their home away from home. They have three carpeted reading spaces, where they are able to get comfy with a book or laptop. Students appreciate these working spaces. It gives them an opportunity to work in comfort, being more productive that working all day at a desk.

The classroom environment also a welcoming place for all who enter. Students in after school clubs also benefitted from our classroom vibe. Comfortable and cozy workspaces for students in my Butterfly club.

I appreciate your generous donations, allowing me to create a cozy comfortable classroom that we are able to enjoy this school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Frattalone

  • Wizarding World

Your generous donations allowed me to create a 3 week interest based summer session in which students read excerpts from the Harry Potter books, watched snip-its from the movies, and studied Muggle subject areas such as: Alchemy, Astronomy, Social Studies, Herbology, and music. They also explored the world of Magical Creatures, Potions, and Spells. They had a fantastic time, and thanks you you, they had a magical summer!

  • Chess Anyone?

    Funded Feb 15, 2024

I have personally observed so much growth in my students by introducing the game of chess into my classroom. They have developed critical thinking, problem-solving, and concentration skills.

Chess also encouraged creativity as they explored different strategies and moves to overcome their opponent. This creative thinking can help them become more innovative and resourceful in their lives.

We can't forget about the importance of social skills! Making time to play games together helped them develop social skills like taking turns, learning fair play, and respecting others. Chess also helped them learn how to win graciously, how not to give up when they lose, and how to build and maintain friendships.

Winning at chess and seeing their skills improve also boosted a their self-confidence.

Finally, playing chess exercised both sides of the brain, which allowed them to focus and battle anxiety. So many benefits!”

  • Let's Get Pickled

    Funded Dec 2, 2023

Pickleball was easy to learn and play. They has so much fun, and it really didn't matter what level of athleticism they had, everyone could participate. They were able to learn and play a full a game of Pickleball on their first day! The more they played the game, the easier it was to build and improve their skills. They absolutely love it! They have become pro's at setting up the equipment, and teaching others how to play the game.

Pickleball is such an exciting game for everyone to try out. It is an excellent activity for recreation, and it is different from regular sports. My students are now learning how to strategize their game. We even have teachers and faculty members getting into it.

The sport also not only offers the benefits of physical activity, but also encourages strategy and provides mental stimulation. Pickleball lets kids be active in a lower-impact way, protecting their joints and tendons. The mental stimulation also helps with mood stabilization.

Thank you for providing this opportunity for my students.”

  • Dreamy Zen Garden!

    Funded Nov 17, 2023

We were able to invite students grades Preschool to Grade 6 to visit our butterfly tent. Our classroom was transformed into a mini learning center, where Butterfly Club members led students through a hands on learning experience. Wonder and excitement filled our hearts with joy. It was amazing to see how independent my students were, and how proud they were to share their knowledge with the younger students. This is our 3rd year growing and evolving in our after school program. Our next steps are to create educational materials that can be shared on campus for all students to access. Thank you for your support and generosity!”

  • Leveling Up Our School Garden

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Your generous donation has had a huge impact on our school community. Our Butterfly Gardening Club members were able to raise caterpillars and live butterflies for viewing in our classroom! We welcomed students from Grades 1-6 to enjoy the live butterflies, and learn a little more about them. It was so popular, that we have also increased the number of members in our club. We are now at max capacity! It has been such an enjoyable experience to see these students growing along with our schoolyard habitat.”

  • Student Leadership

    Funded Mar 3, 2023

Our students were elated to see the donated materials. They immediately began to unbox shelves, and put them together. Our classroom has been reorganized to include a section for our butterfly gardening efforts. This project has enabled our students to provide rich experiences for both students and teachers on campus. Our love for our garden has a far reach, and we hope to continue our efforts next school year reaching out to our community for more partnerships. Besides raising monarch butterflies, our garden will also begin to grow vegetables! We hope that we can make a positive impact on the amount of veggies we eat everyday.”

  • Butterfly Sanctuary

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

Our campus butterfly garden continues to bring joy to our campus. Not only do all of the student and staff get to enjoy all of the butterflies on campus everyday, but we now have a beautiful space to relax in. Students in our butterfly club maintain the the garden, and has become popular spot for "working lunches." Thank you most of all for the learning opportunities that we are able to provide. We just started composting, and now have our own worm bin! Their goal is to sustain our garden by holding monthly garden sales. They have been propagating plants, and raising popular flower and plants by seed.”
