JES Stage Beautification
Funded Mar 28, 2024With the supplies that were used to help with a bit of occasion of the stage, the school has been able to store more materials and host and plan events. We have hosted a Black History month program since organizing. We have hosted parent-teacher association meetings. We have also hosted some dances and were able to place the dinner buffet on the stage so students had the whole dance floor to be able to enjoy one another. We also arguing up for the planning of 5th grade and kindergarten graduation and this year will be able to use the stage due to the donations.”

Funded Dec 12, 2022The Mississippi Early Childhood Development department expanded a collaborative which covered PreK across the state. The collaborative introduced a new curriculum. Even though we had a wonderful new curriculum the department was not able to purchase the unit books. Through your generous donations all of the PreK classrooms at Johnson Elementary were able to have the physical books for each unit to teach students print concept and for them to be able to look at the all the extra features at the back of the books and to see how vivid the colors of the illustrations were. These books students were able to model and pretend to read to their classmates which brought so much joy into each classroom. Your contribution will increasingly help build confidence and improve the beginning Reading skills for all PreK students who step foot and Johnson Elementary.”

Funded Sep 20, 2022My students and I greatly appreciate your donations. The students have been able to utilize each item since they were introduced into the classroom.
The paint and cups has been used in our classroom during our World of Color unit. They got the chance to mix the primary colors to make secondary colors. The scissors have helped with countless projects.
When they seen the liquid SEL tubes they instantly wanted to touch and play with them. They have got to see how they all work and so have my upper elementary afterschool students. I cannot wait to see all the ways each item works.”

Funded Apr 15, 2022I wish you could have seen the look on my second graders' faces when I walked into the class with big packages as they had no clue what was inside of them. They eagerly and patiently waited as I opened each box and showed them each item that was going to be a part of our classroom. The amount of oohs and aahs kept a smile plastered across my face. The buzz in the classroom would make you think that I was introducing a new classroom pet to them. They could not believe that people would donate to our classroom without asking for anything in return.
As I began to incorporate each item into reading centers they could not contain their excitement for all of the new items they got to learn in a different ways from. During reading centers, one group of students had to build words with the Banana Grams, while another group built complete sentences with the sentence puzzles, as another group played Zingo (where they had to match sight words on a bingo like board) then another group matched cards with words to spell and lastly a group sat with me and we spelled words with the magnetic letters. They enjoyed the Banana Grams the most because the letters and digraphs are something they had been learning during their phonics lessons.
We worked with the items donated all the way to the last day of school and I know they will never forget how much fun learning was with reading activities they had never worked with before. Thank you for your generous donations. They help changed the idea of learning how to read from a chore to something they began to enjoy doing. Moments and memories like that last a lifetime.”
