The students in my classroom are in grades 3rd through 8th. Some of my students began playing violin in third grade, others joined orchestra in 4th or 5th grade for the very first time. My students come from very different backgrounds - as some are able to afford their own instruments and private lessons and others rely on being able to rent an instrument from the school and only get classroom instruction, which happens at most 2 times a week for about 30 minutes at the elementary level and twice a week for an hour at the middle school level. All of my students are from the Ferguson, Missouri area where the recent events have definitely had an affect on them. But they are absolutely amazing students who I absolutely LOVE getting the opportunity to teach!
