On Screen, On Paper

Funded Aug 24, 2015

Thank you so much for contributing this technology to our students! Although we are a 1:1 school where all students have access to their own school-issued laptop, I noticed there was a gap between traditional art methods and digital art. This new technology has helped bridge that gap.

One of the exciting ways that the new tools has helped is by allowing students scan their drawings so they can manipulate them digitally. Students have been able to insert their drawings into their videos, upload them to their websites, and digitally alter them in photo editing software. This has expanded the reach of their art and given them more skills they can apply in their classes.

Our Zine Club that meets after school has greatly benefited from the new technology as we publish zines (mini magazines) that consist of student submitted artwork and writing. Zine Club has given a channel to all students in our school, even outside of my art class, to have their voices heard and their artwork seen. Without the new technology you donated, we would not have easy access to a scanner, and our production speed would be abysmally slow. Since the beginning of the school year, we have been able to publish two issues and are in the process of publishing two more!

Thank you for giving my students the chance to incorporate technology in a very meaningful and impactful way.”

With gratitude,
