ELMO Document Camera!
Funded Aug 28, 2014Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to my project for an ELMO for my classroom! When the students first saw it, they had no idea what it was, but when I explained to them what it was and how it would help the classroom, they got very excited.
Now that I have this document camera, I am able to show students something through the smart board instead of holding it up for everyone to see, which can also be confusing for the students. Having the camera show something in real time truly allows them to have a better view of what we are focusing on at the moment. Due to the fact that we often have students who have not been given glasses yet or at this younger age have trouble looking at something and copying it down, the ELMO comes in handy.
There are countless ways I have used the document camera in my class. When I first introduced math puzzles to my class, I was able to show them how to match the 3x3 dimensions of the puzzle together as a whole group as opposed to show small groups of children at a time. When we write a letter, I can show a completed copy to the class with the document camera instead of writing it on the whiteboard or writing it on a word document and putting that up on the smart board. When students complete work and I show an example, I can stick it under the ELMO instead of walking around with it. When I read my Roald Dahl stories to the class throughout the year, I can show them the pictures in the book under the camera instead of stopping and walking around. The list could keep going!!
This ELMO has been an invaluable resource to us in first grade and I am so thankful you all have taken the time out of your day to donate to help make teaching more accessible for students!”
