Being 3rd grade students, they struggle with focusing. This then causes the students to lose focus in what is truly essential, their education. Students, in general, have a tough time when it comes to independent practices. This includes independent assignments, centers, and tests. Students' eyes begin to wander around the classroom to catch anything that meets their eyes. Once this occurs, students focus on the other objects, people, and sounds.
If students are able to have privacy boards, they able to block out the distractions and regain focus on their academic abilities. During this grade, students are beginning the state's standardized tests. This is a stage in which student have to transition in completing timed tests. Luckily, privacy boards are allowed to be up for each student during the testing time. This will greatly benefit each student independently because they can focus on what is right in front of them.
Another material that will make a difference in the students' learning is speakers for a computer. Currently, students are having a hard time listening to the audio that is being produced by academic videos. Videos, presentations, and other technological methods of teaching are being put into place by me, the teacher, to enhance the learning that is occurring in our classrooms.
Lastly, students self-monitor their usage of various things in this classroom. Students track their time on I-Ready (computer learning program), Reflex Math (computer learning program), A.R. (Accelerated Reader), H.O.O.T Rewards (the school's incentive program), and their daily behavior. With this being said, incentive charts are constantly in need.
Thank you for help necessary to fund these projects!
