  • Decodable Books to Apply our Phonics Knowledge

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for these amazing resources! Your donations went towards purchasing many new decodable books for our classroom. We have shifted our phonics instruction away from leveled readers and into decodable books and passages that students can read using their phonics knowledge. While my school has purchased some we were excited to use this project to purchase more and ensure that our students had many different types of books available to them.

I was also able to purchase journals for my class. Every Monday when students get to school we start the day by writing about our weekends. Not only is this great writing practice it will be a special journal for them to keep at the end of the school year.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bucci

  • Updating Our Chairs, Books, & Desks!

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations to my project! It was so helpful to have these new items when opening my classroom this year.

I was able to replace 2 older broken chairs which is not only more welcoming but also safer in our class!

The nameplate sleeves are so helpful to keep students' name tags clean and readable throughout the year.

We have transitioned to students reading decodable books this year. The blend it books are great to use in small groups and make copies for students to work on at home and on their own at school. We are also using the bins to store our decodable series. It is very helpful to have these smaller bins to hold series of books for students to choose from.

    Thank you!”

  • iPads for ABCs

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

Thank you donors! We so appreciate all of the Donors Choose donors who show up for teachers and students again and again!

This new iPad has been great for all of our students! They love to play educational games and it's another way to engage them in the learning. We have many reading programs online that are available to students at home. The iPad allows us to help students learn how to use these programs at school so that they can continue them at home. Once they are excited to use the program and practicing at school they are able to learn even more at home.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bucci

  • New Seating for a New Year

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for the generous donations to our class. It seems like a silly thing but replacing some of our older chairs with these new & sturdy chairs is very exciting!

The class was so excited to see the HUGE boxes and everyone was helping to decide which chairs we should replace. Each student has a chair with their name on it and they take pretty serious ownership over their chair :) Our school has had so many new students come this year and we have added 8 students to our class. We were scrambling some days to get the right number of chairs and this project helped so much!”

  • Decodable Books

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Wow thank you for these amazing books! Our school is in the process of changing from students reading leveled books to a focus more on phonics and decodable books. These new books are filled with words that students can decode using the phonics topics they have learned instead of guessing at the words or relying on the pictures. They match up so well with our instruction.

My students are LOVING these new series. It's great to have many copies of the same book. We read all of the Jazmin books as a class and now they are often choosing to reread them on their own or with a partner.”

  • TV Screen for Small Group Learning

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for your donations to our classroom! We were able to start the school year with our amazing new TV Screen.

We have two teachers in our classroom so that we can teach students in smaller groups. We have been using more technology in our teaching: video clips, songs, and slides. The TV screen allows the second group of students to have access to this technology in their smaller group. The students are often shifting between the front rug with the SmartBoard and the back rug with the TV Screen and both groups are able to receive the same access to technology. Before this project we were showing the students slides and videos on our desktop so this is a big improvement!

Thank you for helping us to give our students this access!”

  • Tall Shelf for Super Storage

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for your donations! This shelf has been so helpful in our classroom organization and space this year. It allowed us to have more space in the room for students to move around.

We have more students in our class this year so we couldn't keep our teaching table and this shelf has turned into a great place to store all of the resources and materials that we used to keep there. Students use it to access the paper choices for writing and it also holds all of their individual portfolio binders for their families.

While this shelf is not a material that students use to work it makes a huge difference in our classroom organization and space. Thank you so much!!”

  • Pencils & Ink for at Home Learning

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations! Being able to send supplies to my students learning at home made a huge impact in their remote learning. This student had a printer in the beginning of the year but when his ink ran out the family no longer was able to print the work for his remote learning. Having the same paper as the teacher and class are using makes the learning so much more engaging and effective.

The pencils and pencil sharpener were also great as our school usually supplies these items to students but this child was fully remote.

Thank you for helping my students to complete their remote learning successfully!”

  • Remote Learning Lab Printer

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations! This project had a HUGE impact on students at our school.

Students from all grade levels benefitted from the printer at the Remote Learning Lab. They were able to print the work that their teachers sent and follow along with their class on zoom. They were also able to use the printer for fun activities when they completed their work.

Before we had the new printer students that were at the Remote Learning Lab weren't able to print the work that their teachers and classmates were using. This change helped students learn more and be more engaged!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bucci

  • Remote Learning Materials

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you for helping me to get my remote classroom set up this year! I used the document camera in class this week and the students were so excited to see my hands doing the writing instead of watching my mouse attempt to write on the computer screen! This is going to be a game changer as I continue to teach reading, writing, and math and can show my students exactly how I am writing on the papers instead of images online.

The frame is now hanging a sign that says "Kindness Matters" which I love having in the background of my Zooms! The ink is going to be very beneficial as I print out resources to be able to show my students under the document camera.

I am so excited about the Unpack Your Impact book and was able to gives copies to my colleagues in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades.”
