  • Just Keep Reading, Reading, Reading!

    Funded Dec 15, 2015

    Dear Incredible Donors,

Thank you SO much for your generous donations to our classroom. The students were so excited when the books arrived and enjoyed exploring each novel during our first "book walk". So far in their education, these students have mainly received reading instruction out of their reading anthologies. While there are interesting stories in these anthologies, they oftentimes contain parts of novels instead of novels in their entirety. The students are so much more invested when they can hold a novel in their hands and stick with it from beginning to end.

With the introduction of these novels I noticed a spark within my classroom: students were excited for guided reading each day and were disappointed if the day's plan included something different. My students hung on to each event in the stories like they were watching a movie - it was an incredible sight to see!

Once again, thank you so much for supporting my classroom. My students and I cannot thank you enough!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Keffer

  • Wibblier and Wobblier

    Funded Feb 25, 2016

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous support! I could not do this without you!

The looks on their faces when the boxes finally arrived were priceless! We love the five wobble chairs we received in our last DonorsChoose project so were all extremely excited to receive eight more!! Thanks to your help, we now have enough wobble chairs for just over half my class to be utilizing them at one time. Now all students can easily access a wobble chair if they want to throughout the day. My most wiggly students love getting to fidget while sitting on the wobble chairs and have shown improvement in their focus throughout the day.

Your donations have made an important impact on my students' education - THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Keffer

  • Wibble Wobble While We Work

    Funded Dec 29, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous support! Your donations made it possible for me to provide my students with nine additional seating options throughout the school day.

The looks on their faces when the boxes finally arrived were priceless! We were all so excited and couldn't wait to rip them open and get straight to using our new floor seats and wobble chairs! Since receiving them, these new seating options have been utilized by students ALL day EVERY day! My most wiggly students love getting to fidget while sitting on the wobble chairs and have shown improvement in their focus throughout the day.

Your donations have made an impact on my students' education - THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Keffer

  • SySTEMatizing Our Process

    Funded Jun 23, 2015

Thank you so much for your generations donations and helping make our STEM dreams come true! My Imagineers were so excited to open the boxes and check out our new materials.

Our new STEM journals came in handy while we planned and executed our plans for our tin can phones. The students worked in partners to come up with a design for their tin can phone, record the design in their STEM journals, build the tin can phone, test it, and record their observations in their STEM journals. The activity went smoothly because the students had a wonderful way to record and organize their thinking throughout the process.

Our next step is to compare the tin can phones with plastic cup phones. The students are designing a system for comparing the two and will be testing it out soon!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your support means the world to Room 14b.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Keffer

  • Growing Strong STEMs

    Funded Apr 1, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donations that helped provide my students with a kit of six different STEM activities. Since I proposed this project on Donors Choose during Spring Break, my students did not know about it before it came. Wow, they were SURPRISED! I planned to use them in a rotation at the end of the week but faced "Are we doing STEM today??" every day leading up to Friday!

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my students challenge themselves to think differently while working on the challenges included in the kit. Because of the work they have to do together to accomplish their goals, they have strengthened their communication and collaboration skills as well. This STEM kit is definitely a HUGE hit in our classroom! THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Keffer

  • H is for Headphones

    Funded Feb 4, 2015

Thank you so much for your donation toward my class' headphone project. Because of you, we now have a class set of headphones and EVERY single student has equal access to our learning materials and activities in class. (And I don't have to listen to 25 computers all talking at once anymore!)

Excitement was high in our classroom when the boxes arrive last week! The students waited patiently, whispering "are those our headphones??" as I passed them out. In the couple of days we have had them I have already seen increased productivity and interest in our classroom. We no longer have to take the time to go borrow headphones from other classes and my students are able to pull them out and use them whenever they need them. For example, my students now have the ability to watch reteaching videos during our independent work time without having to take the time to ask/find headphones AND without interrupting the learning of others.

Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your contribution has made a HUGE difference in our classroom! Yay you! :)

(By the way, the signature below won't let me edit it...but I'd like you to know that my wonderful Mouseketeers also send their very very happy thanks!)”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Keffer
