  • Take a Seat: A Classroom Rug

    Funded Aug 14, 2018

My students and I are beyond overjoyed to have our new rug in our classroom. We asked for funding a month before our new school year started, and we were quickly funded within 2 weeks. Therefore, the new rug arrived the DAY before school started! How perfect!

It has been a wonderful addition to our classroom, as you will see from some pictures I took. We use it as a whole group meeting space, a small group work area, or an individual reading nook. It is comfortable and makes our classroom feel complete and homey.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Day

  • Let's Table This Discussion

    Funded May 3, 2018

My students and I are so grateful for your generosity in our classroom. Our new tables have totally exceeded our expectations and have maximized the learning in our classroom. Students are able to collaborate with their table groups while learning organization in the process. The tables are spacious enough for us to get our work done, yet compact enough for us to have plenty of room to move around our classroom.

Our tables arrived shortly after the start of a new school year. My class was so excited to watch our custodians cart in the new tables and switch them out with our worn, old desks. Now that we are well underway with this new school year, I'm excited to watch my class learn and grow in our new space.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Day

My school has had the same, old desks for almost 15 years. Currently, we have partner-style desks with plastic sliding trays for storage. The trays do not allow for organization or neatness, and the desks are very worn. They are heavy, bulky, and difficult to move around. In our classroom, we are moving from the outdated teaching style of everyone sitting behind their own desk, not talking to anyone, to a more project-based, small group learning environment. To better accommodate this new learning style within our classroom, we need furniture that allows students to collaborate. We are requesting new rectangular tables that allow small group-style seating. This will let our students have meaningful talk about their learning, while giving them a setting to work on group projects.
