One of my most useful pieces of educational tech in my classroom is my Smartboard (an interactive, computer-controlled white-board). The one drawback to the Smartboard is that it tends to keep us grounded at the front of the room. It requires my students to come to the front to present and demonstrate (a third of my students are reluctant on that point alone). I have tried the Smart Tablet, and my personal laptop with my Smartboard to allow mobility, but each has crippling drawbacks. The Surface Go is a full Windows machine (which will run the Smartboard software) and has none of the limitations of my previously mentioned solutions. Using the Microsoft Surface Go, my students and I would have the advantages of the big screen Smartboard at the front of my room but we would no longer be chained to it. Sometimes, when doing rotations, small groups will set up a project on the Smartboard. However, this can be distracting to the other groups. The Surface would allow that same function to happen, without illuminating the Smartboard to the entire room.
