All that students want is to be reflected in the materials in their classroom. It's very important to me that my students see that their interests, family, and culture are acknowledged in the classroom. Just as strongly as I believe this I also believe any struggles they may endure are talked about as well because even though they are young that does not shield them from feeling isolated, alone, different, etc. These books will allow me to grow a diverse library that teaches my students about subjects they may have not known about before and elaborate on topics they may have some idea on. These books will also allow them to be more open to different interests and accepting that people don't have to enjoy everything I do or look like me and that is ok because I believe all students are brilliant as is.
