  • Full STEAM Ahead

    Funded Nov 19, 2019

Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! Your kindness and generosity helped make this project a reality. With your donation, we are now able to take our science class and transform it into a hands on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) classroom.

We recently used our new supplies for our Enchanted Insects projects. Student were first given the task to design their own custom "superbug". They were then challenged with lighting up at least two parts of their insect. They learned basic circuitry and created their own intricate circuits using adhesive copper tape and LEDs. The last part they had to create a visual textile representation of their insect that included their circuit. Students combined paper, felt, duct tape, pipe cleaners, straws, beads, sequins etc. to create their final piece. Each student created something unique and beautiful.

Without you and your donations, this project wouldn't have been as successful as it was! My students can't wait until the next STEAM project. I can't wait to see their creativity come alive!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hebert

  • Bump! Set! Spike!

    Funded Apr 5, 2017

Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Having the new equipment will help me to better teach my students the essential skills to playing competitive volleyball. Having a new net that we can properly secure and have a regulation height allows students to better practice their blocking skills and playing the ball off the net. I can now run multiple drills at one time with the entire team with the addition of the new volleyballs. I am looking forward to next season where we can really break-in the new equipment and fight for the championship! thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

  • Let's Read in Paradise!

    Funded Dec 5, 2014

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Your donation to the Pyne Arts Library has already made an impact with the students. I already find that students are more apt to snuggle down and read where as before they would check out there book and socialize with the person next to them.

The library is more inviting with the warmer lighting and comfortable seating throughout the space. The new stereo will not only benefits the students in the library but other teachers as well who use the space. Our library is a large space and we often hold assessments that require a CD player. Before, teachers would sometimes have to track one down and lug it to the library. Now they can simply come to the library and easily give the assessment. Also, when some of my CSA students visit the library we will have a spontaneous mini dance party to let off some steam. (one of the favorite parts of my day!) The CSA students are mesmerized by the new multicolored L.E.D. ocean light. I often find myself putting it on throughout the day because its so soothing.

This project is very dear to me. In such a technology driven time, it's great to see students snuggling down with a book. My hope is that my students develop a love for reading that will stay with them forever. Your donations have truly helped to inspire that love.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I truly appreciate it and I know my students love you for it!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hebert

Here at the Pyne we are a very diverse school. We are both an elementary & middle school with students in grades Pre-K-8, which includes a Newcomer (English Language Learners) program, as well as a CSA (Classroom for Students with Autism) program. We strive to develop creative minds & critical thinkers who are academically proficient & skillfully prepared for success in high school & beyond, regardless of their background. Lowell, being a Gateway city, has a very diverse population with our Newcomer students coming to us as refugees from war, persecution, involuntary displacement, & a variety of other reasons. We make every effort to engage, challenge, & inspire our Newcomers to move into mainstream classrooms. They come to class prepared to work hard & adjust to everything new around them. Our CSA students require an individual approach to instruction which takes place in a small, highly structured environment with integrated therapeutic instruction embedded within the curriculum.
