We Need Some Tantalizing Tales!
Funded Feb 3, 2012Thank you very much for the folktale literature and book boxes that you have donated. They have been extremely helpful. Thanks to your donation, my students are now able to understand the importance of folktales across the cultures. They also appreciate the lessons that can be learned from them. It has helped my students analyze different folktales and be able to compare and contrast similar tales. Because of your donation, my students will now be able to use higher level thinking to make inferences and draw conclusions. I really appreciate your donation. Through your generosity my students are now able to read and learn through folktales.
I would also like to thank you for the book boxes. They have helped organize the books in our classroom library as well as make our classroom look nice and neat. We have used the boxes to separate books by genre. This way we are able to read a variety of genre and stay organized at the same time.
Thank you very much for your generosity! ”

This classroom project was brought to life by Wasserman Foundation and 2 other donors.Eureka! I have Gold Fever!
Funded Apr 3, 2012Thank you very much for funding our field trip to Riley's Farm. Through this hands on program, the students were able to experience how life was like for the forty-niners. In this program students were treated as forty-niners by being part of the reenactments. They found out and used the tools needed to mine. They were also taken to to best locations to find gold, and then they were able to pan for gold. In addition, my students were able to understand the economic concepts of supply and demand and how it affected the lives of different people living in California during the gold rush. They even got to eat a forty-niners lunch to help students understand that life as a forty-niner wasn't so easy after all.
Having such an incredible experience helped my students go beyond the textbook and really make history come alive. This helped my students think deeper about the events that shaped the history of our state and how the rush west affected all.
Thank you very much for funding this trip!”

Watt's Up With Electricty?
Funded Apr 3, 2012Thank you very much for the donation that brought the Discovery Science Center's "Watt's Current" presentation to our school. Thanks to the presentation my students were engaged and enjoyed with enthusiasm learning about electricity. All students were interested and eager to learn. The presentation definitely created a spark of entertainment as they learned and participated. It created a great foundation for them as we began our unit in electricity. It gave them the background knowledge necessary to dig deeper and apply this knowledge to the experiments that we conducted during our unit in electricity. It also allowed them to make connections to new learning as well.
Not only did this presentation motivate my 21 students. It also motivated 125 other students in our school that were learning and were working on the same unit of electricity as we were. Having this opportunity definitely enhanced the learning of our students and got them excited and ready to learn about electricity.
Thank you very much for your generosity!”
With gratitude,
