In January of 2017, I was hired to work with 6th-8th graders who had emotional and behavior disorders. I was told that my students were "unteachable" and "would all end up in jail within five years". My students are at-risk of dropping out of school because their parents are in jail, they live around drugs and alcohol, and they are involved in the court system, or have to care for younger siblings. They can be hard headed, angry, blunt, and brutally honest. My students are also the most creative and caring kids that I have ever met. My goal is to raise enough money to buy them supplies that makes learning more accessible. All of my students read 3-4 years below grade level and struggle with the most basic social skills. By funding my projects you are helping them break the cycle of poverty, abuse, and illiteracy.
