  • We All Need a Break Sometimes

    Funded Jul 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. Our calming corner has been in place since shortly after the school year began, and it has already made a positive impact on our classroom. Before introducing it, we held a class discussion about big emotions, teaching students when and how to use the calming corner appropriately. Every student had the chance to explore the tools before they were placed in the corner, ensuring they were seen as helpful resources rather than toys. Thanks to your support, the students have embraced this space with respect, using it as a calming retreat when they need a break to process their emotions. It has become a truly welcoming and essential part of our classroom environment, and we couldn't have created it without generous donors like you. Thank you once again for making this possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Diaz-Duran

  • We Love Art!

    Funded May 10, 2024

Thank you so much for the opportunity to explore art. Students look forward to creating a new art project every Friday. When their work is complete we use the manila folders that are mounted on our wall as a classroom art gallery. This way everyone who visits our class can admire the work. The wall is always evolving as new art is created.

The model magic I requested is a self drying clay and is an amazing and easy way to make mini 3D sculptures. We have made animals and used the art paper to make trifold homes for the sculptures. The kids love it. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Fresh Start for 2024

    Funded May 11, 2024

Thank you so much for your extreme generosity. Having a fresh set of supplies to start off the school year always puts a big smile on the kids faces and the teachers. New pens, pencils, crayons, glue sticks etc to call their very own.

The pencil box has been very helpful in keeping their supplies organized and safe. No more searching in their desk for lost items because they are now kept in their box. We use the supplies in their pencil box on a daily basis, so having them within reach has been super important.

The notebooks and folders have also helped with organization. Each notebook/folder has a special color associated with a subject. For example, everything related to writing is kept in the yellow folder. Red is the classwork folder. etc. I am working on teaching my students organization skills that will last a life time.

None of this would be possible without donors like you. Thank you again.”

  • Creative Minds

    Funded Apr 1, 2023

Thank you again for your extreme generosity. The supplies that were donated have almost all been used daily (pencils, boxes, crayons, glue sticks, markers, etc.). We use the manila folders to create an "art portfolio" to display on our classroom wall. As each project is finished it is added to wall for everyone to admire and at the end of the year will go home with the students as a memory of their third grade year and all the wonderful work they created. To create the art we use the art paper and cardstock that was purchased, as well as the supplies mentioned above. None of this would be possible without your help.”

  • New Year, Fresh Start

    Funded Apr 1, 2023

Thank you so much for your extreme generosity. Not having to worry about having beginning of the year supplies was such a blessing. Each and every student started off with a box full of of pens, pencils, erasers, whiteboard markers, highlighter, crayons, etc. As well as a desk organized with different colored folders and notebooks all neatly labeled. It made the start of the year go very smoothly. It wouldn't have happened without you. Thank you again for supporting my students and their learning.”

  • Teaching Around the Room

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your extreme generosity. The stools have been a much needed item in our classroom this year. With 26 students we do not have enough seats on the rug for all to fit, so the stools are being used as extra seats during rug time. I also have a lot of adults coming in and out of the classroom to work with students at different times of the day. The stools allow us all to work with a group in different areas of the room and even the hallway at the same time. Students have also been enjoying using the stools as a free choice seating for small group and partner work. Thank you once again.”

  • I'm A Real Author!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity. The printer and ink has really helped to bring our writing to life. In past years students would handwrite their books, but this has allowed them to type their writing (practicing real world skills) and then print them out for others to read, just like real authors. When we get to informational research we will be able to print color photos as part of their writing, which I'm sure will make them even more excited.

The laminating machine will be used on our final writing project to create a "super special" hardcover like book to take home and keep forever.”

  • The Essentials

    Funded Jun 21, 2022

Thank you so much for the school supplies. The kids were very excited to receive a pouch full of brand new supplies on the first day of school, and they have been put to use daily. The notebooks have helped keep the different subjects organized and have started to teach the kids organization. The students use the dry erase markers to practice their times tables, work out math problems, and for our morning meeting. The pencils are great because they last longer than normal pencils because of the thicker lead, which means they don't break as often. The other supplies like markers, crayons, glue etc have also been helpful in making learning a bit more exciting. Thank you again for your generous support.”

  • Creativity in the Classroom

    Funded Apr 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your extreme generosity. We were soooo excited to receive the materials that we used them right away to create flower paintings for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, we were so engaged with painting that I forgot to take pictures! We did however use the canvases and paint palettes again to create a "getting ready for summer canvas" of colorful and happy suns. The biggest hit of all though was using the Model Magic. It took several days to complete the project starting with forming our real or imaginary animal, then painting it with markers, and lastly building its home, but it was well worth it. I think they came out amazing and definitely showcased the students creativity. The kids had so much fun exploring the new materials and it was a perfect way to round out the end of the year. Thank you again for supporting my classroom and allowing my students to have these new experiences.”

I work at a Title One School where all the students receive free breakfast and lunch based on their family’s income. Although we are considered a high poverty school, we are also a high academic performing school. This is due in large part to the hard work of students, teachers, parents, and staff. In order to continue on this path to success, both students and teachers need the supplies needed to do so. This being said, asking parents to donate items is not always feasible, so teachers rely on using their own money, or using what the school has to offer to fill classes with necessary materials. Unfortunately, with budget cuts each year, money has to be spread thinly and we don’t always have the supplies needed. This is where generous people like you can help. Any donation, big or small, can make a difference in a classroom like mine. Both my students and myself thank you in advance.
