Remote Ready
Funded Apr 22, 2021I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my dream become a reality. Your donations helped to provide quality instruction to my students who were learning from home this year. I was able to purchase thousands of interesting, colorful and content rich resources for my class this year. This project will not only benefit the 35 students from this term, it will reach many of my classes for years to come.
The students were so excited when they saw the materials that I purchased with your generous donations! I instantly saw them become more engaged in the lessons! During these difficult times, you made it easy to keep my students learning and staying on pace with the curriculum.
Your donations allowed me to be the best teacher I could be, and for that I am eternally grateful!”

The Ghostwriter
Funded Oct 27, 2020Remote learning has proved to be a difficult and arduous task. I yearned for ways to reach the students the same way I would in the classroom, remotely. With the tools you have so graciously purchased for me I am one step closer to reaching my learners everyday.
I can now write on my screen to help my students understand the methods for math and writing. When I used the digital pen today the students could not believe how clearly the work was presented on their screens. One student even said, "Wow! Mrs. Metry that is the coolest thing I've ever seen. It is like we are there with you." With those words alone I knew that my mission was accomplished. I now have an organized and efficient station to work with in my classroom that is geared toward delivering the best instruction possible.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and my project, The Ghostwriter. I promise that I will put the tools you supplied to me to good use. Your generosity touches so many learners and I know they appreciate it more than words could ever express. Thank you so much for helping me "Rock Remote Learning"!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Metry
Race to the Printer III
Funded Sep 11, 2019When my principal announced that my project was funded over the loudspeaker, my students broke out into a roar of excitement. They immediately asked me what supplies we were going to receive and what would we be using them for. When I shared with them that they could print their writing and computer coding they were so excited. When I shared with them that people who had never met them were interested in their success I could see the impact it had on them and myself. I can't thank you enough for making my dreams for my students become a reality.
My students are so excited that they will be able to type and print each one of their writing pieces and multimedia projects this year. It is truly a privilege to them to be able to print their hard work. They are so eager to write computer code and print it so they can analyze it with their team to "de-bug" their code before they run it.
I am most thankful for the support each one of you has given me. When my project got funded, it inspired me to reach for the stars with my students. I promise I will make sure your donations are used in the most impactful way in my classroom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and one other donor.Put Our Stop Motion in Motion!
Funded Mar 20, 2019The joy in my students' eyes when they found out that they were able to create stop motion videos in class was priceless. Your generosity has sparked creativity and joy in the hearts of myself and my class. We can't thank you enough for your donations. My students were so excited when they saw the supplies for "Put Stop Motion in Motion" arrive in our classroom. They were so eager to use the supplies and create claymation videos. The students appreciate your donations and are really having fun using the supplies. We have been allowing them to collaborate with one another to create their own original stop motion videos and the products are amazing. This may inspire some of them to pursue a career in animation and film making. Having the StopMotion station available for them has improved behavior and motivation across the whole class. They are so proud of their work and want to share it with everyone! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me make my dreams become reality. The impact of your donations will live on forever in the hearts of my students and myself. Thank you!”

Key to Organization
Funded Apr 20, 2018Today was the first day of school for the 2018-2019 school year. There were 30 new faces in a new classroom. Supplies were overflowing from tote bags and backpacks. Excitement was filling the room as we embarked on a new journey. It was at the very moment when I gave the students their organization boxes that I felt the effect of this project. The smiles that crossed the faces of my new students when they realized that someone cared enough about their success that they donated supplies to us was priceless.
The children started filling their boxes with fresh crayons, sharpened pencils, markers, post-it notes, index cards, glue, flash drives, and so much more. The boxes were the perfect size to fit all of their materials and because they are see through, I could easily see which students had enough supplies and who needed me to fill their box with some of mine. No one felt left out and no one felt like someone else had more than they did. We then quickly had monitors collect the boxes and store them in their cubby area in the back. There was no clutter and all of their books fit into their desk. It was wonderful to feel like they actually had enough space in their desk for once. After lunch we needed to retrieve the supplies to complete a project and again it was a seamless transition. The containers were labeled and easily given out.
I am so thankful to the donors who contributed to this project and believed in me, my idea, and my students. It is people like you who make this world a better place. The children are the future and I care about them deeply. I want them to feel organized and successful and you have helped me pave that road to success for them. I am sincerely touched by your gratitude and promise I will use the supplies you donated to help my students this year and for years to come!”

Race to the Printer II
Funded Mar 20, 2018I am so thankful for each of the donors for "Race to the Printer II". You have once again made my dreams into reality. The ability to print is so powerful for my students but the fact that someone that doesn't know them cares is greatest gift. When I notified my class that our project was funded, they couldn't believe that people were as generous as you all are. My heart is full and so is my printer because of you! We have successfully printed out our last two writing pieces and our computer code for all of the second course we completed, because of you! Having 34 students means that each printed project is over 70 pages and now we are able to print whatever we need! At the end of the school year, my students can take home their six published and printed writing pieces to share with their families! We are so thankful for everything you have done for us! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Sharp Skills
Funded Sep 1, 2017Your generosity has gotten our classroom off to a great start! The students were so excited to see the new pencil sharpener and to learn that people care about their success. One of the best moments was when I realized that some of the students were unable to bring pencils and erasers to school and I could provide them with quality supplies. They didn't have to worry about being unprepared because you cared enough to help. Sometimes people underestimate the power of a pencil and an eraser, but I do not. The ability for some to worry about one less thing is amazing. Instead of worrying about pencils, sharpeners, and erasers- we can now worry about being leaders, growing and becoming successful in our academics. My heart is full and so are our pencil cases!!! Thanks to you, donors!!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Funder and one other donor.Race to the Printer!
Funded Apr 14, 2017I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generosity. You have made possible so many things for my classroom and students. When they found out that people cared enough to donate to them without even knowing them, the effect was powerful. It opened their eyes to the idea of global citizenship, caring about others to make the world a better place. When I told the class that they could print their work, their eyes lit up light stars in the sky. You would think that this would be common practice in a technologically driven world but the sad fact is that it is not. Students are often unable to print their work because of the lack of resources made available to public schools. It is amazing to think that something so simple as printing a piece of writing or computer code is considered a luxury. The truth is just that, we did not have the resources that we needed to make this simple task possible until we found you. Each one of you has opened a world of possibilities for my students. You showed them that people care if the youth succeeds in this world. You also showed them that generosity is something that reaches beyond the limits of society. The students and I are forever grateful to you for helping us succeed.”

Mrs. Metry
Be Active 2015
Funded Nov 23, 2015I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. When I received the e-mail that my project was funded, I felt like I won the lottery. You have given selflessly to my dream and showed my students that in a community people give back to help others.
When my students found out that we had received our donation, they were overjoyed. They want to lead healthy lifestyles and they understand the importance of forming healthy habits now. They also understand that you care about them, and that is a feeling that can't be purchased. When I loaded all of the equipment into the mesh bag and asked one of the kids to bring it to gym their eyes lit up with intrigue. "Are we going to use it today?" was called out with excitement from the line. When I replied that we were, the class let out a cheer that was followed by daylong smiles. I showed the contents of the bag to them piece by piece and each jump rope, soccer ball, basketball etc. was met with an enthusiastic "ooooh! aaaaah!"
For the first section of our project, which is demonstrated in our "action shots", we utilized the single jump ropes and jump roping stations. The students partnered up and rotated between twelve different jump roping activities. It was challenging and fun. We will continue to use these stations for one of our three gym periods each week. We would like to graduate eventually to double-dutch after we master the basics. We also used the basketballs for control and accuracy drills which help the students to work as a team and sharpen their dribbling and passing skills.
The next step that we will take with our project is to me the most important, taking what we learn in school and incorporating it into our life outside of school. My wish is that the students take the healthy habits that we practice in school and maintain them outside of the school. This truly is a gift that keeps on giving! Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Metry
