My school is considered a high poverty school because most students in the school qualify for free lunch. My class consists of special needs students with a dramatic range of needs and abilities. Their families come from all around the world, but, sadly, my students have never seen much of the world themselves except for the inner city. Due to learning disabilities and lack of experience, it is difficult for them to visualize and conceptualize a rural community in this country, let alone a country halfway across the globe. Funding my project would give my students concrete materials they could hold in their hands to assist in a better understanding of our world.
