So Much More Than a Sandbox...
Funded Jan 22, 2013We are so thankful for your donations toward our sand table, sand toys, and three different sensory boxes. These are now available to students at free choice, during creative centers, and at outside play times. The students greatly enjoy using these tools and they are getting valuable tactile experiences that decrease their sensory needs and help focus their attention. These stations also provide valuable small group interactions where we can facilitate interactions between peers and help them to practice the valuable skills of friendship. This project has been important to my students immediately, the tools are used daily by the kindergarteners to meet so many of their needs - increased attention, relationship building, and sensory input - in a fun way. My students, my coteacher and I all thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Buchinsky
Help Bring Elmo to Life!
Funded Jun 6, 2012Thank you so sincerely for your generous donations that allowed my students to access the ELMO for themselves using the new wireless projector.
Their excitement was infectious and using our new technology has been educational, fun, and increased the back-and-forth discussions between teachers and students has been exciting for me as well.
This technology has provided them more opportunities to teach each other and teach me and has thus given them a more active role in our classroom community.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Buchinsky
Help Us All Be Successful Together
Funded Jan 31, 2012Thank you so very much for your generous donations to the variety of tools that enabled my students to build a stronger community between students with a variety of abilities. Students participate in a variety of academic and social activities each day that require them to interact and build relationships with students who may have very different abilities from themselves.
In the pictures included here, you will see students participating in important sensory based activities that help them better access all that the general education classroom has to offer. You will also see students with a variety of cognitive abilities engaged in play activities together building stronger friendships in this diverse setting. It is your kindness and interest in our school that enabled my students to access these wonderful materials.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Buchinsky
