  • I Like to Read It, Read It

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations to our reading project! Your donations have funded brand new beautiful books for our classroom library. It has been great to see students' excited reactions as we have been receiving the book packages. Students have been talking about which books they want to read first. These new books have clearly been giving students a new motivation to read more.

Your donations have given our library more diverse selections of books so that students are able to expose themselves to different styles of writing and types of characters.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for providing my students with these experiences.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Pick a Seat, Any Seat

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations to our flexible seating project. As the boxes started to come in, it was so heartwarming to see the excitement on students' faces. All of the students (and teachers) have loved trying out our new flexible seating options.

Not only do these new seating options make our classroom look better, but more importantly they make our classroom function better. This has allowed us to pull small groups at our tables without having to drag bulky chairs over. These seats are not only more comfortable and practical, but they allow more time for instruction since students do not have to worry about dragging their large chairs to the small group.

It is wonderful to see students so excited about joining small groups because they know they have autonomy in where and what kind of seat they get to have.

Your donations have truly made a difference in our every day classroom community. We are so grateful to all of you for making a difference in our learning environment.”

  • Let's Read!

    Funded Dec 29, 2019

Thank you so much for providing the students with a variety of books to enhance their learning experience in ELA. My classroom library is one of the only places students are able to borrow books. Therefore, it is paramount to have a variety of book selections for students to choose from.

These books allow students to explore topics that are new to them, while also enhancing the topics that are covered in our curriculum. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and willingness to support student reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Can You Hear Us Now?

    Funded Mar 2, 2020

Thank you so much for providing our class with headphones. We use chromebooks daily in our ELA class. Headphones for each student are necessary for students to use the chromebooks to enhance their learning experience. Students are so excited to finally have their own set of headphones to use in class daily.

Students use a computer specific reading program daily to strengthen and improve their reading skills. This program is tailored to each specific students needs and has a very strong audio component to it. Since all students are in different places of the program and need audio to be successful, headphones are necessary for students to do their best work.

Now with their own set of headphones, students are able to focus on their skills, and limit distractions while improving their reading. We are all so appreciative of your donations and how they have helped the students to become successful in the classroom.”

  • Enriching ELA and Social Studies Books!

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

I cannot thank you all enough for your generous donations. Without all of your help my classroom would not have these enriching texts that are aligned with our English Language Arts units. My students were so excited to go through the books and read about topics that we have been learning about in class. I have also been able to use many of the texts during our read aloud time to enhance our lessons.

My students unfortunately do not have much access to a variety of rigorous books. Through your donations the students have been able to get exposure to a variety of rigorous texts, while learning more about our units of study. These texts have also sparked a lot of conversations among students. Students enjoy talking about the books and how they overlap with what they are learning. I have even noticed students bringing in things they have learned in the texts during class.

Your generosity has not gone unnoticed in our classroom. As a result of these texts I have noticed that students have become more excited about reading and talking about texts. Thank you all for giving our classroom access to these rigorous and enriching texts.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Lions, and Tigers, and Books...O My!

    Funded Oct 19, 2017

Your generosity and selflessness have truly made my classroom an exciting and inviting place for my students to discover new books and a passion for reading. I am truly grateful for your donations, which have helped to completely update my classroom library. Not only do the book bins provide us a cleaner, larger, and more colorful place to organize our books, but the variety of books your donations provided us with have allowed all of my students to become excited about reading.

Before receiving our package our library was uninviting and outdated. There was a very limited variety of books, most of which were over two decades old and did not reflect the diversity of my students. My students quickly became bored with our selection. The variety of updated and diverse books has made my students more excited than I have ever seen any child become about reading. Every student has at least one book that they are excited about, and many more that they have become excited about. I am not only noticing students explore different genres and different styles of text, but I am noticing my students talk about the books they are reading. I hear them talking about the books in casual conversation with each other and recommending books to each other. The excitement in my classroom over our new library is extremely contagious; students who were discouraged and disheartened by their reading success in the past become so exuberant and engaged in new books that they would have been too intimidated to try in the past.

I again thank you for your kind donations. Seeing the excitement of my students over reading has encouraged not only me, but also the students to pick up books they usually do not and to have discussions about books. Your donations have made more of an impact in my classroom than I could have imagined. Thank you for encouraging my students to enjoy reading and for giving them the opportunity to explore many diverse books.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • iLearn: iPads for Learning

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

    Dear Donors,

I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to my project for iPads in my classroom. The students have been unbelievably excited about the new technology in our classroom. Currently we only have one old desktop computer in our classroom. The iPads have allowed us to expand our learning through different resources. The iPads have made a great technology center in my classroom. My students use these iPads for reading activities and math activities. We even can get books on our iPads which my students absolutely love.

When we first received these iPads my students were absolutely amazed that we would be able to use these in the classroom. A lot of my students do not have access to technology at home, and those who do have very limited access. Students who were not excited about certain subjects are now excited to learn. Sometimes just having the material through a different medium helps students learn and retain information more.

I am so proud of my students for embracing this new technology in the right way. My students now look forward to centers or reading books just simply because they are on the iPad. I cannot adequately express how thankful I am for your contributions. My students and I are so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Growing Our Reading Brains!

    Funded Nov 20, 2015

My students and I are so thankful for your donations to our class reading project. When the boxes were delivered to my classroom, my students and I were both so excited to open them and put our carts together. I explained to the students that these carts would make our leveled reading books more accessible to them outside of our small group teacher time. My students were so excited because they have always expressed interest in using our leveled books outside of small group lessons. These leveled books have made my students more confident readers, so I want them to be able to read these books independently.

Once my students saw the carts coming together they were so excited to organize the books and get started reading. Once the carts were assembled I allowed my students to help me organize the books into the carts so they knew exactly how the organization system worked. Now that the books are fully in the carts, my students have been using the books everyday during centers. They get so excited when they get to read a book that is on their level. I have seen so much growth in my students since they have had access to the leveled books.

Your donations have meant so much to my class. It is amazing how something simple like a storage cart has made my students so happy and excited about reading. I cannot thank you enough for your generous support and interest in my students' education.”

We are an inner city, Title 1 school. 100% of our students receive free and reduced lunches, and the majority of our students come from poverty. Most of our students do not have resources at home to help them become stronger readers. Students receive the majority of their books from their classrooms and the school library. Our school is full of an incredible staff who works very hard to provide students with what they need to be able to succeed both in school and in life. My goal is to provide all my students with the means and opportunity to grow both academically and socially/emotionally. My hope is that all my students come into school feeling like they have the opportunity to excel and grow each and everyday.
