• Help Our Entire School Live Stream the Hatching of Chicks

• Have A Seat And Get Comfortable

  We can't thank you enough for helping to fund our project this year. Our students are really enjoying the option of sitting on a wobble seat or bean bag chair. Just today I watched as a student cuddled up in the bean bag chair to write a story. It was a student that usually struggles to stay focused, but with the privilege of sitting in the bean bag, they wrote over two pages in one sitting.

  The wobble seats have also impacted our 60 students! Each day new students get a chance to sit on the wobble seats to help them stay focused. Just this week a student said to me, "why are we so lucky to be able to sit on ball chairs and wobble seats?" My response was "because there are so many people who care about your learning!"

• Ball Chairs for Focus, Not to Bounce

  When the students first walked into our classrooms as saw them full of ball chairs, many of them stopped dead in their tracks. "Are these for us to use?" they asked. They couldn't believe that they were being given the opportunity to sit on something other than a hard chair.

  It's been a couple of months now and the new ball chairs have been a huge success! Students are staying focused and using the ball chairs appropriately. As they build their core strength, many students have had to take a break since it is such a change in the way that they sit. They have been wonderful for attention and strengthening, but have also been a great addition to how we take breaks in our classroom. We've used them to do raised push-ups and balance activities.

  Not only have these chairs made a difference in our classroom for our current students, but they will continue to strengthen cores and help students focus for years to come. THANK YOU!!!”

• Third Graders Ready To Board The World Of White Boards

  I don't know where to begin in thanking you all. When my students found out that our project was funded, they were beyond excited. The idea of having an "interactive" white board in our classroom seemed impossible to them. "You mean we get to use it? Not just you?" They would say to me.

  Since the board was installed, students are using the board on a daily basis. We use it a lot during our spelling instruction, but they really enjoy when we play a math game from an interactive site. They love being able to write with their finger and to be able to drag and drop manipulative's to show their thinking.

  This board has changed the way that I teach. I like to keep a steady balance of technology vs. traditional methods, but it has enhanced the technology components that I include in my lessons. They get to be part of the teaching and the learning. That to me is priceless.

• Bouncing Our Way to Learning and Fitness

  I'm not sure where to begin or how to thank you enough for your generous donations to our classroom. When the balls first arrived, my third graders were overwhelmed with excitement. Every time another student in the school would walk by our classroom, third graders would turn as if to show their pride for their new ball chairs. Before the new chairs arrived they would look for any reason to leave their seats during the day. Morning meeting, reader's workshop, and writer's workshop are all carried out on the carpet, so it was a welcome "break" from sitting in our old chairs. Now they will politely ask me if it is alright if they stay in their seats. Such a difference!

  The ball chairs are being used for the entire day. We have completely replaced all of our traditional chairs, thanks to you all. One of the highlights of having the ball chairs is that our motor breaks (short exercises to get ourselves back on track) can now be done on the balls. They especially enjoy bouncing while doing arm circles.

  There are a number of benefits to having these chairs in my classroom, but the biggest difference I have noticed has been keeping kids focused and in their seats. Before the chairs kids would often ask to use the bathroom or go get a drink, just to be able to stretch their legs a little. Now they will just bounce a bit higher or do a few arms circle to help "get the wiggles out." I can't thank you all enough.”
