Classroom iPad for Special Education Learners
Funded Apr 17, 2019We are ever grateful for your donations to receive our classroom iPad and Apple Pencil. Access to this modern piece of technology has generated excitement with my students and had them engaged throughout the rest of the academic year. This has been especially useful across all core subject content, and has acquainted my students with a graphic calculator app used for state testing this year.
This is only the beginning of how updated technology can help students in underfunded schools and assist teachers with lesson planning and instructional strategies. I have SO much more in store for my students, including sketch notes and diagrams that can be created on the iPad and shared with students digitally via "Air Drop" in addition to being printed.
We have accessed digital versions of popular books and audio versions through both software used in our district and third party apps.
There are also several sources of "edutainment" we access, including Kahoot! quizzes and software programs where students can practice digital painting and sketches. Thanks again for showing up and showing out to aide my students and I with bridging the gap between technology and education.”
With gratitude,

Funded Apr 16, 2019From the time students seen the large boxes arrive, excitement began to stir. Questions about the contents were thrown at myself and my student aides as to what we carried. To continue the mystery, I simply told them they would have to wait and make a visit to see for themselves. My aides graciously assisted me in setting up our puzzle piece mat, inflating the balance ball, and placing fidget bands on chairs. As a reward, they got to plop into the bean bag and begin making their stress ball.
We are extremely grateful for your generosity in providing items to create a sensory area in our classroom. It has been a hit thus far and students all over the building have requested water bead balloons and have stopped by to enjoy "a soft place to land." I take pride in ensuring that my class is a safe space for all students and have witnessed students opening up more, and increased engagement during instructional time after getting the chance to relax and play during Brain Breaks.
This is the beginning of many wonderful plans I have to encourage my students to enjoy their educational experiences while in my care. Donations such as yours make it possible to continue to expand my students creativity and interests and show them how to use it within the classroom setting. Students have shared how creative this was, and how having a comfortable and safe space means so much to them. Thank you again for making a difference.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Whitted
