Hands-On Learning...Because We're Kids!
Funded Aug 26, 2014I cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity! The dry-erase boards, math manipulatives, and play-doh you donated have had such a positive impact on learning in our classroom! The students were thrilled to receive it, they couldn't believe someone had been so generous!
The students use the play-doh to develop crucial fine motor skills while working on letter identification, shapes, and spacial awareness. They use the math counters daily as we practice counting, adding, subtracting, and comparing numbers. The counters provide support that gives every student in my class the opportunity to experience success, and the dry-erase boards are used daily to write and show work during language arts and math. My students would never have access to these materials without your help. You have truly made a difference for them! They are so worth it! Thank you so much for believing in them. Funded Jul 5, 2012I cannot thank you enough for your incredibly generous donations! The sacrifice you made means the world to my students and me! My students were so excited when our iPod touch arrived! They were instantly able to become comfortable using it!
We have been using the iPod touch in the classroom during literacy work stations! Pairs of students use various learning apps to strengthen or challenge their literacy skills. Working together, they also increase their social skills! Additionally, our iPod touch pairs perfectly with our bluetooth speaker, and we use it constantly to sing and dance with our educational songs! It has made a tremendous impact on learning in our classroom, and we cannot thank you enough! Thank you for believing in us!”

The books you donated gave the students the opportunity to learn ways deal with bullies. The books inspired many class discussions about bullying and treating one another with respect, and the discussions helped create an even more positive classroom climate. The dramatic play items you donated gave my students an opportunity to practice the social skills we read about and discussed. They used problem-solving techniques to work together and get along while playing and working. Without your help, my students would have never had these extremely valuable experiences. They were so excited and asked, "Do we really get to use those!?!" They couldn't wait for me to read the stories! Each day they've been using the books and the puppets to retell the stories at the Drama Center during Literacy Work Stations. They love going there, and it has made a positive impact on their literacy skills! Your donation has helped my students develop literacy skills necessary for reading development, and I cannot thank you enough!

Prevent Bullies by Building Social Skills!
Funded Feb 21, 2012I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful set of self-esteem building read-alongs and speakers you donated to our classroom! They have made such a difference! We have been using the speakers during whole-group instruction times. We have been able to sing songs and watch videos about getting along with one another! In addition, the students have loved listening to the read-along stories at the listening center. The self-esteem building set has helped them realize that everyone has differences that make them special and unique. These books have helped each of the students feel more confident about his/her own unique differences and talents.

Funded Dec 1, 2011Our stability ball chairs have arrived, and they are making such a difference! The students are instantly drawn to the stability ball chairs, and they are excited to use them! Your donation has helped give my students with autism and attention deficits an equal chance at learning! Students with special needs love learning as much as the other students, but they can become discouraged easily when they face obstacles. One big obstacle is often their need to move and expel energy. Your gift has removed this obstacle for my students and allowed them to feel successful! This gift is priceless to my students! In my classroom, you are a hero!
Due to continuous budget cuts, it is not always possible to get the materials necessary to support learners with special needs. That is why your donations mean so much to my students and me! Funded Jan 12, 2012I cannot begin to express my deep gratitude for your generosity! The materials you donated to our classroom have made a tremendous impact! I truly believe in the importance of early education about bullying! The book "Bullying in Schools" has been a great resource for my colleagues and me. Also, the literacy materials you donated have helped my students gain skills needed to express their thoughts and feelings. However, the most meaningful gift for my students was the class set of picture books about bullying and friendship. Many of my students have limited access to print material, and they were immeasurably grateful for the opportunity to receive a book of their very own. Through this project, my students have been better able to recognize behavior that is kind and respectful, and they have been able to use their words to work through problems with their friends.

The materials you donated to our classroom have been wonderful! I have used the resource books to learn more about bullying and ways I can prevent it in my classroom. This has been a wonderful resource as bullying is a relevant topic in our community. The creative writing journals are a perfect way to monitor my students' socio-emotional development. My students write and draw in them everyday, and they absolutely love them! In addition, the early literacy materials have helped my students strengthen their reading and writing skills.
