  • Phonics and Fun!

    Funded May 4, 2023

Thank you so much for helping fund this project. Your generous donations will provide students with resources to help with phonological awareness. The materials purchased are engaging and fun. Time after time you continue to help me fund projects that support student learning. I appreciate you beyond words. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanley

  • Morning Tubs Help the Morning Blues!

    Funded Dec 27, 2022

Thank you again for your kind donations. Your generous donations helped supply my students with STEM tubs. I call them brain bins! These brain bins provide students with engaging, hands on activities. They are used during the morning to help students ease into the day and they've also come in handy during indoor recess. The materials you helped provide allow students to collaborate, explore, create, touch, and use critical thinking skills. Engaging in creative play, gets the children excited for the day!

The project materials were used to create an SEL station where students have a safe and calming place to take a minute in a separate space and allow children a break. Students use the fidgets and sensory toys to help regulate their emotions.

As always, thank you for providing my students, year after year, with a classroom that is welcoming and full of resources. I couldn't do it without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanley

  • Reading to Understand!

    Funded Sep 1, 2022

I wanted to thank you again for all the reading resources all of your generous donations made possible. My students were excited to have new and engaging material to support reading comprehension. All of the low prep intervention folders, comprehension practice journals, and place value boards have been a tremendous support for my students. The resources have allowed me to differentiate learning in small group. The reading folders appeal to a variety of children's interests such as animals, reptiles, and geography. Your donations have helped support phonics and fluency, in addition to vocabulary and comprehension! I couldn't give my students what they deserve, without your support so I thank you, again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanley

  • Classroom Listening Center

    Funded Jul 17, 2021

I wanted to thank you for your generous donations to our classroom listening center! It's because your kindness and willingness to give, that I was able to provide my students with a full listening center and sixteen audio books. We use it during our daily reading rotation and it has helped tremendously with reader focus and student confidence. Listening centers help model fluent reading and introduce new vocabulary. Listening centers are extremely beneficial for English Language learners as they expose students to patterns, expressions, different accents & dialects, of the English language. Students are able to build on their vocabulary and oral fluency as they make connections to what they hear and see throughout the text. They are able to listen to the story multiple times. Repeated readings supports comprehension skills and word recognition.

Again, thank you for your donations. You've helped instill a love for reading in my classroom. Our listening center is a classroom favorite! They look forward to it everyday.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanley

  • Listening Ears!

    Funded Nov 4, 2019

We wanted to thank you for the generous donation towards our "Listening Ears Project." Your donations have allowed each and every student their own set of headphones. The availability of headphones allows the children to comfortably listen to books being read to them. The cushions are a classroom favorite! The cushions are used as a flexible seating option throughout the classroom. The children use the cushions as a seating option when using the lap desks.

We wanted to thank you Donors Choose and our donors, for allowing our classroom to be flexible and comfortable.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanley

This classroom project was brought to life by Theresia Gouw & the Partnership for Rhode Island and one other donor.
  • All are Welcome!

    Funded Oct 15, 2019

It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give toward, All Are Welcome! I wish you could have seen their faces whenever a big box was delivered! These items have helped bring a sense of community to our classroom and encourage students to work collaboratively. The flexible seating has helped students choose what works best for them. They can sit and even wiggle if need be. The clip boards and dry erase boards have allowed the students to move freely throughout the classroom to complete their work. I am pleased to see the students working in ways that best fit their learning styles.

As a first year teacher, I am so grateful to have this project fully funded and for Donors Choose as a resource to support our students. We are so appreciative for all the donations that allowed us to transform our room. Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanley

This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in learning throughout the day. I encourage learning independence, self confidence and awareness through student choice. Flexible seating allows the need for movement to be met with these different seating tools. Research shows that students are able to focus and do their best work when they are comfortable. Sadly, inner city schools do not have the resources that many other of our neighboring districts do. Many of the materials listed are materials that they students use regularly. "Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world." Thank you for supporting my 2nd grade classroom!
