Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! Having developmentally appropriate STEM materials has made science and engineering activities fun and engaging. In the past I have struggled with how to provide my exceptional learners with hands on science exploration. The fairytale problem solving stem kit brings literature and science together in a fun and new way.

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! The resources for this project have been so fun and engaging. The sequin blanket, water beads and sensory tubes have aided in my students getting their unique sensory needs met.

The sequin blanket is by far the biggest hit from this project! Multiple students use in daily to get tactile input, as well as to cuddle up when they are tired. The water beads have also been a huge hit. I have paired the water beads with the sensory tubes to create a visual stimulating and calming items. The kinetic sand allows my students to get tactile input while also building their fine motor skills.

  • Book for All Learners: Adapting Books for Students with Disabilities

    Funded Jul 27, 2017

First of all, thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom.

We have absolutely loved having all the items to make books more accessible. Having the binding machine, laminator pouches and Velcro has made it possible for me to create adapted books, and or adapt book we already had in our classroom! It has also allowed me to make custom items for my learners. For example when we went on a field trip I used these items to make personalized schedule books for some of my learners. Additionally, having set of felt book pieces has allowed me to make story time interactive. All of these items will continued to be used for many years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Iannaccone

I am a first year Life Skills teacher in a Title I school and want to provide my students with adapted books and storytelling kits. My students have various orthopedic challenges that make it hard for them to interact with a book the same way other students may. A binding machine, lamination pouches and Velcro will allow me to take books that I already own, and adapt them to the specific and unique needs for my learners. Having these items in the classroom will allow me to adapt more books. The Tru Binding machine will allow me to bind books with coil binding in the classroom. The coil binding is important, because it will be easier for my students to turn the pages independently. Having the pages laminated will allow me to add Velcro bound characters and story elements which will aide in checking my students comprehension of the story. Additionally story telling kits, will allow my students to play and interact with the various characters and storytelling elements. Having these adapted books will be a game changer for my students, and will ultimately get them one step closer to independent reading.
