  • February Friendship Bracelets for Fun!

    Funded Feb 14, 2024

This project has brought so much joy and fun into our lives! We used the material for two events that included so many students from 7th to 12th grade who just wanted the time and opportunity to connect with one another in a new way. The bracelets made were a symbol of the commitment they made to support one another and themselves. We also used the materials to support our Mental Health Awareness Month efforts to spread awareness of empathy, connection, and belonging for each student on campus. The lunchtime activities were a hit, especially in this Swiftie bracelet-wearing era. Thank you again!!!”

  • Graphic Novels for Sustained Silent Reading!

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

These graphic novels have been the best addition to our classroom this fall! When students are done early with an assignment, they are able to pick up any one of these graphic novels to read and analyze. This supports our goal of staying away from scrolling on our phones and keeping the learning going. Many students have enjoyed what they read in these books because they done well and very relatable. Later in the semester, we will engage in graphic novel unit where the students have to read and discuss one graphic novel with their table group and present it to the class. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to be better readers!”

  • So Fresh and So Clean!

    Funded Jul 3, 2023

Because of your generous donation, we were able to start the year off right! The tables get wiped down regularly, and our noses are provided with the necessary tissues to wipe the germs away. While this may sound basic or simple, these materials are not always available when we need them.

Your donation provided my classroom and my students with enough material to last us this first semester. It assures us that we do not have to wait for the material to come from the office when it is finally ordered. This allows us to care for our needs and focus on our studies. Thank you again!”

  • Creating a Culture of Care

    Funded Aug 9, 2023

Creating a strong, cohesive and kind staff culture is important for every school site. While these books will not make this automatically type of culture happen immediately, it is an important first step. With these books, we will have staff meetings and small group book clubs to discuss strategies that we would like to pilot then share school wide. The foundation of tried and trusted initiatives and theories will help everyone feel more confident in the work. With these theories, we can share with greater school community and continue to transform our practices to help everyone! Thank you again.”

  • Safe and Comfortable Place to Sit

    Funded Dec 11, 2022

    Thank you

It has been a few months that this chair has been in our space, and it has already brought so much comfort. As a teacher and Restorative Justice coordinator, I have been able to provide a comfortable seat for my students to sit during the peace Circles so I can support conflict mediation. I have given students a safe and isolated spot where they can sit when they are experiencing stress or anxiety.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. Without it, we would not have this space for reflection and connection.”

  • Tools for Team Building and Joy!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

These games have a been a life-saver in this tense and stressful time of the year. When the students were feeling the pressure of finals and getting all their credits for graduation, we would take a mindful minute or ten minute fun Friday with these tools. It gave us an opportunity to connect with one another and bring much needed laughter in our day. Sometimes we forget to use them, but a student will always remind me to make time for joy. Thank you for being a part of our classroom community with your donation. You are greatly appreciated!”

  • Back to Basics

    Funded Aug 14, 2022

We started the year off right with clean tables and enough supplies. While getting back to the school year can be a little unsettling for some students and chaotic for many teachers, having enough cleaning supplies and learning tools help put my mind at ease.

My students enjoy coming to class knowing that I have sanitized the desks. They comment on how they appreciate having supplies at their tables, so they can engage in the lesson without getting up and looking for them. These supplies allow us to focus on the content, learning, and one another with little to no distractions. Thank you so much for being a part of our classroom community.”

  • Classroom Library We Can Connect With!

    Funded May 17, 2022

The new books helped support our learning through several reading units this Fall. We engaged in independent reading activities where the students could choose their own books, and they tracked their learning with post-it notes and bookmarks. We spent time using books daily independently and in small groups.

While these books seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, these books make the biggest difference. The students know they can come to my classroom, and I will do all I can to keep them engaged and learning. These books provide the students the opportunities to feel connected and inspired by these literary characters. Thank you for being part of our joy of reading!”

  • We Need Strong Reader Support Tools!

    Funded Mar 13, 2022

The new resources helped support our learning through several reading units last Spring and our new units this Fall. We engaged in independent reading activities where the students could choose their own books, and they tracked their learning with post-it notes and bookmarks. We spent time using these tools every day both independently and in small groups.

While post-its, bookmarks, and highlights may be insignificant in the grand scheme of things, these small things make the biggest difference. The students know they can come to my classroom, and I will do all I can to keep them engaged and learning. Thank you for being part of this effort and our joy!”
