Building Knowledge While Building Community
Funded May 6, 2019We are LOVING our new carpet. The kids like having their own place to sit. It is also helping with our management. They know the place they need to sit and there isn't arguing about someone sitting in their place. It is helping us practice personal space.
When the students saw the new rug they were shocked! They couldn't believe that it was here. Many students commented that it brightened up the room and they loved it so much more than the other one.
I am loving the bright colors and spaces for everyone. I love that we can all fit and everyone has a place.
Thank you again. I truly appreciate your help!”

Funded Mar 23, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations! We have loved having a set of high quality picture books for our children to use.
It is so exciting to see the children's faces light up when they see a book character that looks like them. Especially when the child hasn't seen themselves in a book before.
We have also been using the books to show examples of good quality writing. The children are able to see a good example then write their own paragraph using that as an example. Their writing has improved greatly.
The children have loved having new picture books to read with their buddies. It is helping them form new friendships.
Thank you again!”

Transform the Classroom? Transform the Learning!
Funded Mar 1, 2019Thank you again for your generous donations! We LOVED using the materials in our room transformation. The children were so engaged during the review and they scored so well on their tests.
We used the wheel for our carnival room transformation. It was used in a game where the kids won tickets, free games, or had to do a silly challenge. We have also used it for sorting into our classroom houses and awarding houses bonus points. It is an instant engagement tool.
The black lights, tapes, and Jenga were used in a glow room transformation. We taped the Jenga pieces with the glow tape. They used these in a review game. The room was lit up with the black lights and we wrote with yellow highlighter. The children had a blast glowing all day long while reviewing for our test.
We used the lock boxes in an escape the room challenge. The kids had to solve problems to get the key to the lock. Inside was their next challenge. They had so much fun with this too!
Thank you again for your donation. we truly appreciate it.”

Funded Feb 6, 2019My students were so excited when our package came. They wanted to open it right away! There were cheers of happiness when we opened the box and they couldn't wait to use the Hot Dots and timers.
We are using these new resources to improve our learning in many ways. The students are using the timers to improve their fluency. They are using them to time themselves on 1 minute reading fluency. They get so excited to beat their reading speed. I have seen so much improvement on their reading words per minute.
They love using the hot dots to practice skills we are using. They like that its immediate feedback and they know right away if they got it right or wrong
Thank you again. We couldn't have done it without you.”

Flexible Seating for Focus and Success
Funded Nov 13, 2017Thank you so much for providing us the opportunity to implement flexible seating in our classroom. We are loving being able to move around while we work. We are using these new seating options to pick a place to work that is the best for us. The student's engagement and focus during the day has increased greatly. They are able to get their wiggles out in a productive way. The first test we took after everyone was using our new materials, the class average went up 10%. Their test scores have continued to go up as we continue to use our new seating choices.
When the students first walked in and noticed all our new choices, they were SO excited. They hadn't been in a classroom before that wasn't just chairs and desks. They were eager to use our new yoga balls, bouncy bands, and wobble stools. The students couldn't wait for their chance to try out each chair. They were also excited to find out that they didn't have to work at a desk. If they wanted, they could even sit on the floor! There was a new excitement for school and learning. Thank you for helping us do this.
The next steps for our classroom is to continue to use flexible seating every day. We are slowly adding in more choices and are hoping to have even more options by the end of the year! We are working on learning how to choose a good working spot for us and not just a spot by our friends. We are excited to see the many positive outcomes of using flexible seating correctly.”
