  • Coding With Ozobots in First Grade

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

My students are very excited about doing STEM activities in the classroom as part of our daily routine. The Ozobot coding program is such a great way for little minds to be able to gain confidence in using and manipulation technology.

The Ozobot resources allow the students to be creative and explore a task that can be daunting. We love the coding sheets that explain the appropriate easy to create code for the robots to perform their designed tasks.

This Ozobot technology also allows the students to work together and build team work skills as well as gain personal confidence. We cannot thank our donors enough for giving us an opportunity to experience coding concepts in our classroom throughout the entire school year. It's the Donor's that really make these wishes come true and I thank you from the bottom of my heart along with my greatdyl students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baima

  • Science and Math Journals For Building Communication and Cooperation Skills

    Funded May 3, 2018

Journaling is the one of the best way to express ideas, thoughts, and show the learning that is happening in our classroom. As we begin to explore our science units for NGSS, students use the journals to document their discoveries. These journal provides proper spacing for good writing and sentence structure, a dedicated space for drawing the picture, and a place to add our vocabulary. These journals can be used for any of the our science units and displayed for all to see the continuous science learning happening in our classroom. Our school practices AVID strategies and starting in first grade we help build organizational skills that they will carry with them throughout their educational lives and beyond. The math journals give us similar support in organizational skills. We are learning some very rigorous math skills in first grade that are the foundation of where they are heading. A math notebook provides problems of the day that we tackle each day, to be able to refer back to when needed. These journals also build a sense of accomplishment and a confidence that helps create a love for learning and a feeling of excitement!

Thank you for helping us love learning that much more and supporting our educational goals.”

  • Headphones and iPad Cases

    Funded Apr 10, 2018

My class and I are blessed by your generosity! My students are so engaged in creating their own portfolios on our iPads using the case with keyboard and headphones. The students choose with an eager excitement to use the iPads and take good care of them with the cases to protect our valuable resource. The headphones are necessary to do differentiated work on the iPads during class time as they are all working on different challenges at different times. Our class is so happy with our iPad cases and headphones!

We thank you from our hearts,

Miss Baima and the first grade class”

  • iPad Project: Differentiated Learning to Succeed!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for believing in me and my amazing students! The iPad center in my classroom is quickly becoming the favorite center. The kids have been expressing so much excitement over getting this center up and running. First grade is a huge jump in independence and confidence growth for children... this center is providing so many ways for all of the students to grow and show their independence and knowledge in many different ways.

One of the best examples of reaching so many learners in their specific needs is that everyone has a different project to work on, yet they all get the opportunity to incorporate technology in their work. This provides a strong sense of self for each one in ways that they have chosen to prove their knowledge. With the iPad center we are able to differentiate the goals for each individual student as they showcase their projects using app called SeeSaw. Parents are able to log into the app and see their child's work in this online portfolio. The students are also able to view their classmate's accomplishments and make comments to each other within the app.

We are able to access another avenue of education with our iPads! Thank you for making this possible and giving our classroom the gift of learning and growing at our fingertips.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baima

  • STEM Activity Centers Every Day in Our Classroom!

    Funded Nov 4, 2017

Thank you for this amazing gift to our classroom! Not only are these science games helping me to teach the standards they are teaching social skills such as communication, teamwork, and personal pride. We are able to incorporate a STEM/science center into our daily routines as part of a week long theme. Also, every Monday we have science for a 40 min. block where parent volunteers come and help to facilitate a whole class STEM lesson and interactive experiments. We do science journaling several times a week to go along with our learning.

Thank you for supporting Carlsbad students in a fun, meaningful, and important way. My first graders do not get a specific science class teacher as our funding does not allow science specific teachers in our grade level. As the classroom teacher, I design curriculum and implement the standards in the classroom with some integration into our other standards when I can. This kit really does support the standards I must teach and provides engaging, proper tools that I need to help my students succeed!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baima
