  • Place Value Understanding Through Hands-On Exploration

    Funded May 6, 2024

Thank you for your incredibly generous contributions in support of this project. Since receiving these amazing math resources, we have been putting them to fantastic use. Students have enjoyed using the math manipulatives to practice counting, organizing groups and solidifying their understanding of place value.

We are immensely grateful that you decided to support our mathematicians with these high-engagement resources that help them see fun ways to engage in everyday mathematics. These resources will continue to be used beyond this school year as future mathematicians also engage in ongoing inquiry and collaboration.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors and 4 other donors.
  • Basic Classroom Supplies to Promote Participation and Collaboration

    Funded Feb 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your contributions in support of this project. Basic classroom supplies like chart paper and markers help our classroom run. These resources invite mathematicians to collaborate on tasks and create charts that capture their thinking and deepening understanding of mathematical concepts.

We use these materials to engage in small group learning and charts featuring student thinking are on display in the classroom for them to reference. Thanks you for supporting our community through this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

This classroom project was brought to life by Kleenex and 3 other donors.
  • Math Games to Promote Learning

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

Thank you for your support of our project! We received the games and math resources and have immediately put them to great use. The kids we work with are enjoying the hands-on learning using these games and materials.

From practicing a variety of addition strategies using the tower game, to organizing and counting the ocean animals they are engaging with the materials as they practice important math concepts. We will continue to integrate these resources into our classroom learning and centers to promote a love of math, using strategies flexibly and engaging in collaborative play.

Thank you so much for choosing to support our class through this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

This classroom project was brought to life by Young Sheldon on CBS and one other donor.
  • Picture Books and Activities to Promote Positive Math Identities

    Funded Aug 10, 2023

Thank you so very much for your generous donations in support of this project. Building and sustaining positive math identities is at the foundation of the work we do as mathematicians of all ages. Students are learning that through collaboration and flexibility they can tackle any problem no matter how complex.

These resources will help our community develop skills for engaging in mathematical conversation, supporting ideas with evidence, and using math vocabulary to clearly communicate our thinking. In addition, by engaging with these books and materials, students begin to change their perspective about themselves as mathematicians.

We are immensely grateful that you decided to support this project!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Reese’s Book Club & the SONIC Foundation and 3 other donors.
  • Incredible Math Investigations

    Funded May 22, 2023

Thank you for your generous contributions in support of this project! We are so excited to use the Contexts for Learning resources in with our mathematicians. Contexts for Learning engage students in real-life problem solving scenarios and encourage learners to use their own strategies to make sense of math. This supports student-led learning and leads to deeper understandings of strategies and math concepts.

With these resources, we will be able to provide instruction that is engaging and relevant to students. We cannot wait to put them to use!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

  • Calming Area

    Funded Jan 4, 2023

Thank you for your generous contributions to this project. As soon as we received our materials they were put out for students to use and were met with immense amounts of excitement. From the calming timers and wands to the comfortable floor seats, our mathematicians were excited to put these items to good use.

Teaching students lifelong social emotional skills and strategies is part of our work as elementary school teachers, regardless of the subjects we teach. We are teaching and modeling for the youngest of learners how to navigate academic and social situations on a daily basis. Sometimes students come back from recess or lunch upset by an incident that happened outside, having resources and strategies to support them in processing and transitioning to a learning space is invaluable. It helps them develop the skills to self-monitor and select ways to manage their emotions that work for them individually.

Thanks to your donations, we were able to bring these items into our classroom and integrate them into our learning environment. Thank you for supporting our Calming Area!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

  • A Table for Learning

    Funded Jun 30, 2022

Thank you for your exceeding generosity in support of this project. Unfortunately, the company that provides the tables had many issues with inventory. The great news is that I was able to apply the credit towards many incredible resources for our mathematicians. Including games and counting collections materials.

Before we were able to completely unpack the box, students' curiosity was piqued. They were excited to count new collections and practice counting using fun new games and manipulatives.

Teaching math with a variety of hands on tools, helps promote engagement and fun. This is where authentic learning happens. Thank you for your support of our learning environment!”

  • Printing for Powerful Learning

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

Thank you for your incredibly generous support of this project! As soon as we received our printer, we began putting it to good use.

Having access to a printer in the classroom is critical to our ability to differentiate learning and adapt activities to meet the needs of all learners with whom we work.

Being able to print resources and materials makes developing creative, responsive math activities and games even easier. For example, we were able to print a simple card game to send home with students to support their recognition of numbers 1-20. This wouldn't have been possible without a printer.

Thank you again for recognizing the importance of a seemingly simple request and helping make this a reality for our class.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

  • Math Manipulatives for Young Mathematicians

    Funded Jul 12, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support of this project! Since the beginning of the school year, our mathematicians have been hard at work building number sense and place value understanding using these manipulatives. From counting collections to representing numbers with place value blocks, these resources have made learning engaging and hands-on.

Thank you for recognizing the importance of math tools in the hands of our youngest mathematicians. Being able to count physical objects facilitates a deeper understanding of these important concepts!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas

  • Games to Promote Financial Literacy and Cooperative Play

    Funded Mar 6, 2022

Thank you for your immensely generous contributions in support of this project. The games allowed us to engage in collaborative play and problem solving. My fifth graders made great progress when it came to working together and interacting positively with one another. They enjoyed playing games while building their mathematical and financial literacy skills. These games made a big difference in our classroom community as students continued to adjust to in-person learning following COVID-related school closures.

Thank you for recognizing the potential of this project and supporting our work!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Minas
