I am extremely grateful for your generous donation to our classroom. The tablets/laptops that were donated are amazing and the students love working with their tablets/laptops. The students are able to do various reading lessons on their tablets as well as math and science activities. Another program that the students highly love is called kodable.com. The students enjoy using different coding skills then applying it to real life.

Another activity we have been incorporating is using QR codes in order to read kindergarten books.

What the students find most exciting about their new tablets is that they are able to work independently in their tablets and they can read books and do district wide computer homework and use coding skills.

Overall, all my students are thrilled about our class tablets, but I do find that my special needs children find it even more fascinating.

We all appreciate your generous donations and we are very happy, excited and thrilled.

    THANK YOU”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rivero

  • "21st Century Flexible Seating"

    Funded Oct 23, 2017

I am beyond blessed and thankful for your generous donations.

When our kindergarten students they were in complete shock! They were speechless!

I myself was also speechless and full of happiness and so many emotions!

I was a bit nervous at first because we were going to do a complete renovation to our traditional, structured, "boring" classroom set up. We were actually turning our classroom into the future!

"21st Century Flexible Seating" with the stability balls that were donated as well as the wobble chairs. The stability balls and wobble chairs have been a grand success, it has helped the students control their behaviors by concentrating on sitting on either the stability balls or the wobble chairs.

The tire chairs and the sofas for the library area and science area have also been a success.

The students are more focused and are eager to learn because of all the resources.

Our classroom has turned into an exciting, loving, and engaging classroom! Full of SMILES!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rivero

Brain research states that various physical activities like walking, stretching, moving, crawling, dancing, and jumping can enhance the learning process. Eric Jensen states in his article "Moving with the Brain in Mind" that students will be more engaged and gain knowledge by using different classroom styles and incorporating "flexible seating" instead of the traditional way of sitting long hours in the same position. Teachers need to engage, inspire, and encourage students in a greater variety of postures, including: walking, dancing, lying down, bouncing or any type of movement that will motivate, stimulate, and encourage the students to learn. My project will incorporate the "21st Century" flexible seating. The students will be allowed to sit in either scoop chairs, bean bags, rugs, stability bouncy balls, stools, and so forth. The students will be gaining knowledge, exercising, having fun, and enjoying coming to school to learn.
