Learning a second language shouldn't be boring, or about vocabulary and grammar drills. Through novels like La isla más peligrosa, my students will be able to encounter the language in a fun, action-packed setting, and will be able to experience a thrilling story written at their level. Reading should be fun, and reading in Spanish should be an adventure. My students have loved going on adventures through stories this year; having their own copies of novels to read will only enhance the experience. It will open so many doors for communication, giving us a springboard to class discussion and engagement.
