iPad Makes Learning Fun!
Funded Jun 22, 2012I wanted to thank you kindly and sincerely for the generous donation you made to my classroom. The money you donated to my project has helped my students immeasurably.
My students are English-Language Learners and benefit greatly from being able to hear and see the stories they are reading. They have also used the iPad to create "Reading Rainbow" book reports/reviews, and are learning an array of skills - uploading, editing, showmanship - through the use of technology your donations provided. It's a wonderful tool to help engage students who are more and more accustomed to the bells and whistles of the computer age.
Because we are a public school, we are always facing some budget crisis or another, making it impossible to give my kids access to the technology and resources they'll need to compete in the real world. Thanks to your donation, my students have the opportunity to learn and grow with technology that would have been impossible were it not for generous people such as yourselves.”

MP3s Can Help us Read!
Funded Dec 11, 2011Thank you so much for your generous donations. A struggling economy always leads to the government tightening its belt, and unfortunately, the education budget always seems to be on the chopping block. Wonderful donors such as yourselves help to bridge the gaps between school budget cuts and my much-abused wallet.
Many of my students have trouble reading, and benefit from being able to hear the correct pronunciation and flow of words while they follow along in their books. Because our school population consists of many English Language Learners, the problem is compounded. Many of my English Language Learners were particularly grateful for the opportunity to be able to hear the correct pronunciation of English words that have, up to this point, been foreign to them.
Your donations helped supply our classroom with enough mp3 players so that every student has the opportunity to read along with their books. It's such a small thing, but these mp3 players will make a huge difference in the academic lives of my current students, and those who come after.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Staine
This classroom project was brought to life by Wasserman Foundation and 10 other donors.A Place For Everything
Funded Aug 30, 2010This is obviously only an email, and cannot contain within it my extreme and heartfelt gratitude for the donation you have made to my classroom. The chair organizers that fit so nicely over my students' chairs have helped me keep my 1st grade students' desks so neat and accessible.
There are already so many challenges with public schools: budget shortages, overcrowding, and the like, that it is such a relief to be able to knock disorganization off the list. Before I had the chair organizers I was already losing sleep over the prospect of trying to fit all my students' materials in their small desks, and imagining the clutter that would be inevitable when 21 six-year-olds struggled to find a place for their books, their handouts, and personal items.
I quite literally danced for joy when I found out that your organization had funded hundreds upon hundreds of projects in Southern California, including mine. Organization tools are something that students never really notice when present, but always miss when they are absent, and thanks to you my students haven't had to deal with that pesky frustration.
Thank you so much.”

Sharp Pencils make for Sharp Students!
Funded Jan 15, 2010I want to thank you all again for your generous donations. The sharpener we bought, thanks to you, is invaluable. I can feel the difference in every aspect of my classroom: my students are happier (students have such an obsession with pointy-tipped pencils), and my teaching is better (instead of having to wait to sharpen my student's pencils during breaks in another teacher's classroom, I can now sharpen them on my own in class, and use the break time to make copies of worksheets).
The budget crisis faced by the district unfortunately makes it nearly impossible to replace basic tools, such as pencil sharpeners, but, thanks to donors such as yourselves, and donorschoose.org in general; my students now have sharp pencil points to match their sharp minds.”

A Smorgasbord of Creativity!
Funded Jun 20, 2008Thank you so much for your donation. My students and I really appreciate your philanthropic efforts to support public education. I love what I do, but sometimes am limited. Thanks to you, I feel limitless. Really, with all my heart, I thank you and know that what you give will make a great difference in the lives of the children who come through my classroom for many years to come! Many blessings and may your generosity come back to you ten fold”

Frindle (frin'dle) n. a writing device; usually a pen
Funded May 11, 2008Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are ecstatic, as am I, that our humble proposal has been funded.
I want you to know that the books you have helped us obtained will provide hours of enjoyment and learning for this years group of students as well as next years. Every time one of my students learns a new word or laughs at a moment of humor while reading this book, I will think of you. You made it possible. Thanks again for paying it forward”
With gratitude,
Ms. Staine
