  • Watercolor Wonder

    Funded Apr 25, 2019

We are so excited to have received your generous donation of watercolor sets and brushes. My students that first used the sets and took the wrapping off, commented it was like Christmas. They kept reminding each other not to mix the colors so everything stays neat and new. So far my second graders have used the watercolor for our Dot Day projects and fifth grade will be using them for their zentangle pumpkins. We are so grateful for donors like you who believe that art materials are an important part of school and who donate so generously.

My students will benefit from these new watercolor sets as many of them have never had the opportunity to use watercolor because we only had a few sets and they were not in very good shape. I know they will gain invaluable experiences using these materials and we cannot thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quinn

  • Basic Supplies Lead to Extensive Creations!

    Funded Dec 30, 2018

My students were so excited when I told them we were going to create our own weaving on a loom. When the materials came we discussed how the Native Americans made many things on the loom and weaving was something they did on a daily basis. The precut looms gave us more time to weave and the students have been so excited each week to come to class and continue their project. As some of the students are finishing up their weaving they are already talking about what to do next and embroidery was a top choice because they have been having so much fun weaving.

Some of my sixth and first grade students have used the colored sharpies to create a wonderful mini paper weaving and to decorate small wood pieces that were placed together to create a tree.

We are so grateful for your donation to this project. The students have learned so much and have experienced things they never have in art before.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quinn

  • Capturing Our Creativity in Color

    Funded Nov 3, 2018

I cannot thank you enough for the donation of art materials including color sticks, chalk pastels, colored pencils, and oil pastels. These are materials that the majority of my students have never had the opportunity to use. The first time I brought out the materials to include for student choice I briefly described them and gave the students time to experiment. Kindergarten students giggled when they saw their fingers turn colors when they "smudged" their spirals. First graders were amazed that using just a little bit of chalk pastel goes a long way. My sixth graders had so much fun blending the oil pastels and using the metallic and fluorescent colors on their What do Snowmen Do After Dark projects. Fifth graders learned which materials are better for blending and for using on colored paper for their Snowman and Friends Gallery project.

During the past two months students have been choosing to use these mediums more and more to make their art more vibrant and different than anything they have created in the past. Current self portrait projects by kindergarten and fifth grade will include color sticks for a rich, even color. Third graders will be using color sticks in a project called We Reach For the Stars. Fourth graders will be studying Georgia O'Keeffe in the upcoming weeks and will be able to choose to use the oil pastels or chalk pastels to create blended designs of flowers.

My students and I are very grateful of your donation to our art program. You have allowed incredible artists to make their art work and their experience making art even more incredible. I know these experiences will make their current and future artworks that much more amazing. My students and I are excited for art class every day. As a teacher being able to keep 30 plus students in every class engaged and excited every day is a true challenge, but with a variety of materials and mediums for students to use makes it easier and lots of fun! Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quinn

  • Listen Up!

    Funded Dec 28, 2007

My students and I are so excited about our listening center. We can't wait to listen to our favorite books on tape which will help us with our fluency, comprehension and promote our love of reading. These materials are priceless and no classroom should be without them. We want to thank you again for your kindness and generosity. Sincerely,

    Michelle E. Quin”

  • Growing a Spring Garden

    Funded Mar 14, 2006

I am honored to learn that our proposal has been funded. This trip will be so insightful for the students as many of them have never had any opportunity to be a part of any step in the gardening process. This trip is just the beginning for my students. We will actually plant a small garden on school property later in the school year and this trip will provide excellent fundamental skills and actual hands on experience for the students. We cannot thank you enough for this wonderful opportunity”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quinn
