  • Making Art Shine and Pop!

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

How exciting to add neon and metallic oil pastels to our collection of media! The kids were so excited when I gave out the packages to use for our Zentangle Pumpkins and Spiral Snowmen. Learning the differences and comparing our oil pastels to crayons, chalk, and colored pencils was a lot of fun. Being able to experience and experiment adding different types of colors was a huge success. The kids had so much fun.

These materials will continue to enhance our amazing artwork and the laminate will ensure it stays neat and clean and safe while displayed. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity.”

    Mrs. Quinn

  • Wishing for New Watercolors!

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

This has been a wonderful opportunity for my students to learn more about watercolor techniques! Being able to teach watercolor to all grades and classes because we have the materials has been incredible. Students will be able to work on watercolor paintings more frequently and build on what they learn each time they use them.

Having enough materials to let each pair share instead of four has also been great. It allows for better management and care for the materials. Using the refills instead of buying all new sets is helping the earth too. We just swap out the empty pan for a new color when needed.

So far this year my students have tried several wax resists, wet on wet technique and adding salt to create a starburst. I find many of them wanting to create more now that they are more comfortable using the watercolors. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity!”

  • A New Library for the Art Classroom

    Funded May 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of an art library to my art classroom. We are so excited to be reading stories that connect us to artists and techniques in an age appropriate way.

Especially in early elementary I love starting a new lesson with a book that connects to the topic, or spotlights an artist we are studying. For older students there are baskets of books for them to browse and read when they finish a project.

Just recently I read a book about Yayoi Kusama and several students were excited to be able to connect to it because they had just visited an exhibit at the Botanical Gardens.

Reading is an incredible tool and I am so grateful to be able to share these books with my amazing artists!”

  • Laptop for Learning

    Funded Feb 19, 2021

Thank you so much for donating this laptop to the art program at our school. This iMac connects to our smart board and allows students to view websites and educational art videos. The students and I have used it to create designs and images in the cricut design space to use in art. It also allows me to create how to and demonstration videos that I share with the students through google classroom. Being able to utilize the laptop for zoom and google meets has also been very helpful to connect to parents for meetings and students when they are not in the classroom. Using the iMac allows me to sync videos and photos through the iCloud with ease.

Students love the fact that we can connect easily with less tech issues with a device with newer and improved technology. This really came in handy with my remote students last spring and now when students are working remotely.

Having this device has made lesson planning and creating digital art much easier. We truly appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quinn

  • Equal Opportunities for Remote Learners

    Funded Dec 17, 2020

Teaching remotely is not easy especially when you want all the students to have equal opportunities. When the students in school are painting and printing, I was being forced to choose projects that only used basic materials such as paper and pencil for my students at home. I know the students at home wanted to do more but were very limited. The supplies that were donated to my remote students has been so incredible. My students have now had the chance to do a printing project, a weaving project, several painting projects, and a collage. None of this would have been possible without your generosity. My students couldn't wait to get their materials! One they received them, they wanted to use them all at once!!

Two of my students' remote artworks have been chosen for the Bronx Borough Arts Festival and another remote student had his work selected for PS Art which means his art will hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. These artworks were created at home using the materials from this project and am beyond proud of all of my students and their perseverance and excitement for art especially during this trying time. Thank you so very much!”

  • Printmaking Power

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity. Bringing printmaking to life in my classroom has been a true joy. While we have had a bit of experience with foam boards and markers, this donation of ink, papers, linoleum blocks and other supplies has brought their art making to the next level.

Grades 2-4 have had the chance to learn about the materials and processes using ink and graders with foam instead of markers. Older students have been experimenting with the carving tools and the linoleum blocks.

The excitement of peeling and revealing during the printing stage was amazing. Allowing them the time and materials to just experiment helped develop their skills and learn more advanced techniques. Using this experience we will be moving into intaglio ink printing and gel plate printing next.

Thank you again for thinking of us and for helping to keep art alive in schools!”

  • 3-D Art With 3Doodler Pens

    Funded Oct 26, 2020

The students and I are super excited to share that we have been doing incredible work with our new 3Doodler pens. So many classes have had the opportunity to complete the first few lessons on making their names, basic shapes, and a cube. Giving them a period to just try it out and experiment was fantastic. The smiles and amazement were everywhere as they started out creating lines and attaching them. So many kids knew what they were and couldn't wait to get their hands on it. Learning the basics of 3D printing has given them a new choice center during art.

As the kids progress and build 3D shapes we will look to see what we can build that is larger that encompasses multiple shapes to create one large artwork. This will be an exciting adventure. As always thank you so much for your generosity and for promoting arts in schools. During this trying time, so many students are able to find a creative outlet and feel successful because of the many generous people out their like you.”

  • Sketchpads for K-2nd Grade

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

We are so thankful for your donation to our project. Every student I teach art to has been able to receive a sketchpad whether they are fully remote or a hybrid learner. This allows hybrid students to work on art while in school and also while at home on the weeks they do not have in person art. Remote students are able to work at home and keep all of their work organized in their sketchpad. The sketchpads can handle a variety of media so students always have access to good quality paper no matter what medium they are using.

When I handed the sketchpads out, my students were so excited. One student even remarked he would no longer have to use loose-leaf to create his art on. These sketchpads are an integral part of learning for my students. It allows each student an equal opportunity to create amazing art. Thank you so much for your generosity and for allowing my students the ability to create art at home and in school with quality materials.”

  • Adding Color to Our Digital Art

    Funded Oct 6, 2020

My students, especially my middle schoolers, have really jumped into Google's digital art curriculum. Many of these students are remote learners who send me their work electronically. I have been able to use the ink to print out their work and share along side their in person classmates' work. Remote Students are able to see their digital work created on display when I zoom from the classroom. They truly love to see their creations on the bulletin board and they see they are still an integral part of our classroom even though they are learning from home.

A few of my in person second graders were very interested in the pixelated art projects I gave my middle schoolers. I sent the lesson home electronically for them to try with their parent's guidance. They were so excited to try it and have it hung up alongside the others in the classroom. Without your generosity I would not be able to freely print their work and display it.”

  • Art at Home

    Funded Jul 8, 2020

I have had the amazing opportunity to see almost all of my students so far this year as most of them are hybrid learners. As I distributed the oil pastels to the students they were so excited to have "real" art materials to be able to use at home while hybrid learning. They are awaiting the week that their cohort will not be in school so they can show their parents and families how to create art using the oil pastels. All of my remote only students also received materials. These materials will allow me to create a wider range of lessons with varied media allowing the students an even greater opportunity to create incredible art! We cannot thank you enough for your generosity!”
