Slab Roller for Clay Take 2!
Funded Oct 22, 2023I cannot explain how important this clay machine is in our classroom. It has cut down the time it takes to prepare clay for the students and allows them to start with a fresh with a perfect slab. We have quite a few projects up on deck this year that will put that slab roller to great use. From personalized tiles, to slab castles, and dragon eyes, students will be able to get right into designing their art without having to roll the clay forever!
This slab roller will be an integral part of our clay units and I cannot thank you enough in advance for how much time it will save me and the students and let us get right into art making. We are so thankful that you chose to donate to our art classroom. We appreciate your generosity!”

Watercolor for All
Funded Oct 5, 2023My students were super excited to receive the new watercolors. We love Crayola Educational because they are a good brand or multiple ages. Their colors are bright and vibrant and since they discontinued the refills we were overdue for new sets. Many of our other sets were missing popular colors and did not give the students enough color choices.
When I set out the paints and the students opened the palettes they couldn't wait to dive right in and get to work. My fourth graders are working on a Winter Silhouette artwork right now and will move into a Line Design inspired by artist Joseph Amedokpo next. Eighth graders will be working on a zentangle line design also later in the year and first grade is doing a watercolor resist artwork featuring the outer space!
We are so appreciative of donors like you who donate to our art classes so we have quality materials and experiences. Thank you so much.”

Mrs. Quinn
Time for Clay
Funded May 9, 2023I cannot thank you enough for the donation of clay to our classroom. Students have been very busy making clay projects such as pinch pots and coil pots. With this donation of clay that means more kids will be able to get their hands on clay and make some wonderful creations.
During our art show parents were amazed at the projects and were impressed on how well their child was able to talk about the process. Clay has always been my favorite medium to work with and I am so incredibly grateful that I can now work with all my students doing clay projects.”

Funded May 9, 2023The materials donated for our project "More Collage Materials Needed'" has been an amazing resource in our classroom. The students are so excited to have so many different shades of colors to make their collage projects so interesting and unique. They are learning so much about color theory just by using the variety of colors trying different colors until they get a selection they think looks just right to them.
At the start of this school year several grades are involved in a collage project. PreK and K have been making pumpkin collages with torn and cut paper. First Graders have been creating concentric circle collages inspired by Kandinsky, Second grade has been working on Mondrian inpired compostion collages. Third grade will start working on a Winter collage scene where they will created people and houses in the foreground and background. Fourth grade is working on Nutcracker Character collages and Sixth grade is working on an Abstract Monkey Collage. The other grades will work on collage during the year.
We are so grateful for your donation and truly appreciate your support of the arts.”

Funded Sep 16, 2021My amazing artists have been hard at work on their clay unit. They are absolutely loving everything about it. The clay donation has allowed more classes to have the opportunity to do clay and the kids want more!!!! The glazes are also a big hit as it allows them to fire again instead of painting with acrylic.
When the materials arrived the students couldn't wait to get started. Working with clay has always been my favorite in all art mediums and my excitement and joy transferred right to the students.
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Thank you for supporting the arts.”

Funded Oct 26, 2022Our rolling baker's cart is such an amazing addition to our classroom. The ability to keep the students' clay pieces safe and secure between classes is so important. Each class gets an entire shelf and their work is easy to locate and it keeps their work contained so no one can bump it or accidentally break it.
When the cart arrived my students got so excited because that meant we could start our clay unit. They had been waiting for weeks because we could not have their work all over the classroom.
The cart has allowed multiple classes to do clay work at once. It is so popular we are going to need another cart! Thank you for your generosity and support for the arts”

Funded Feb 18, 2023The materials you have donated to this project have started a new chapter in art making at our school. We have started to use clay and create sculptures and the kids are in love. They enjoy the whole process and are learning so much taking it all in. Several classes created various ceramic pot projects using the coil and pinch method. Some created animals and others created usable vessels. They learned about slipping and scoring and how to properly create and dry out a piece so it wouldn't create air and moisture pockets. Students learned all about glazing and watched their artwork transform during the firing process. We cannot say thank you enough for your generosity and support.”

Funded Nov 30, 2022We are so happy to have been able to receive all the amazing colors of construction paper and glue sticks for our collage projects. We go through lots of paper and have "scrap yards" in the classroom to save our cut papers that we might have otherwise discarded. We have two sets of scrapyards that include warm colors, cool colors, and neutral colors. This allows the students to constantly identify, organize, and reinforce the colors. Then they can always check the boxes for small scraps of various colors which reduces waste and teaches them to recycle and reuse.
My students are so happy to have so many choices to make their projects. They have been able to add so many details and show various lights and darks of the same color using different shades of the same color. It has made things so much more colorful and added a nice variety to the class projects.
We appreciate your generosity. Thank you so much for helping out the incredible artists of PS 19.”

Funded Feb 13, 2022My pre-K students were so excited to use all of our new supplies during centers. Usually centers are only about 15-20 minutes long because of shorter attention spans for the littles BUT no one wanted to leave the centers when time was up! They had so much fun using the new play doh tools to create different textures, shapes and even spaghetti!
Color sticks were another huge hit with the kids and ME! They were able to paint and overlap and mix colors using these sticks and there was no MESS! YES! Dot Markers were used to challenge the kids to make a picture of something using only dots.
These materials were so helpful in the development of hand eye coordination, gripping and grasping and teaching basic skills that students will need as they move forward in art through the years. Most of all it was a lot of FUN! Thank you so much for bringing more joy and fun into the art room!!”

Ready, Set, ART!
Funded Nov 14, 2021We are so fortunate for your generosity. This funded project has replenished many consumable and necessary supplies like wipes and paper towels which we use not just for cleaning up spills but for cleaning our fingers between color changes for chalk pastels and to wipe down the oil pastels after each use. The new boxes of neon, metallic, and glitter crayons has made our art pop and sparkle with new colors. First graders used the color sharpies to work on aluminum foil and the results were amazing.
Allowing us to continue to grow and achieve creates new and unique learning opportunities that these students will take with them as they grow as artists. We cannot thank you enough for helping us in our artistic journey!”
