We come from a Title I school which means over 70% of the students at our school receive free or reduced price lunch. Despite our low economic status, the students have grown tremendously as readers this year. They are excited and have many stories to share about characters in their text. I expect them to read a lot. It puts a smile on my face, when students come to school and want to share how many pages they read the night before. I don't think they realized how much fun reading can be.
