Fiber Art Fun!
Funded Feb 17, 2022On behalf of my students, I wanted to say thank you for your generosity. We have been having so much fun using all of the materials your donations purchased for our class.
We are using these resources in our fiber arts class through the art of weaving.
We have been making our own tapestries for the past six weeks and we've been having a great time.
I've never seen students react so surprised (and really excited) to see one of my cabinets filled with tons of colorful yarn. It was fun for me to watch them pick and choose from all those colors and textures.
For our lessons we learned everything from what a loom is to weaving a herringbone pattern and Egyptian knots. Many of my students loved weaving so much they made two more. One even bought a wooden loom and brought it into school to show everyone!
So, again, thank you so much. Your kindness has impacted my class and turned students into (hopefully) lifetime weavers and lovers of craft. Thank you!”

Funded Mar 14, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity! I know it's been some time since this project was funded, I have huge plans for these materials this school year. We will use all of these wonderful paints and brushes in a mixed media class this year.
Even though we are just starting school, my students get so excited when they see brand new materials. I'm using these materials with my 7th graders and I know they will be so happy to see everything.
This year we will experiment with color, color theory, and painting techniques along with combining paint with other materials in fun and unexpected ways.
Thank you again for supporting our small school.”

School Beautification!
Funded Nov 16, 2018Thank you so much for your very generous donations. We are humbled by your kindness.
We requested paint so that we can create a variety of projects to display around our school. The students and I decided that our school could use some color and life. Some of the things we created are paintings, sculpture, and a couple of murals. We created landscapes, abstract art, and paper mache sculpture.
One of my favorite ways to display paint is to organize them is in rainbow order. When I revealed the paint to them they, as expected, oohed and aahed. We couldn't wait to crack open the jars and start. They were really impressed with the quality of the paint because some of them have never used artist quality materials before and they immediately noticed a difference in the way worked.
What I like to do as a next step is to have a gallery walk for the school community once all the work is done and displayed and continue with adding more art around the school.”

Funded Jun 18, 2018The materials you so generously donated are greatly appreciated by my students and myself. We are also grateful for your support of visual arts education and understanding of its importance to students.
The art supplies you donated were printmaking materials. I decided to introduce my students to reduction prints, which involves using multiple colors in a print. It's complicated and rigorous but the results are beautiful in the end.
Introducing new methods and materials is always exciting because I get to see the excitement in their faces when they first see all the new materials. The brayer's (rollers) are always the favorite item but they were equally excited when they saw the inks. The students loved looking at all the different colors and felt inspired.
Our entire project took about two months to complete, which included research, planning, and eventually, the creating. The experience taught my students quite a lot about design and craft, and in the end, they developed beautiful and unique prints. This happened because of your generosity.
Thank you again.”

Funded Feb 9, 2017Thank you for the materials you've sent. When we received the materials my students were ecstatic. My purpose for getting these materials was to introduce my students to new and different materials and forms of art. Many of them have never had experience painting on any form of fabric. They are used to painting on paper and canvas. I am hoping that this can inspire some of my students who might be interested in activities such as screen printing or fashion design/illustration. In the end, my students had lots of fun playing with the paint and seeing how it reacts with silk's surface.
My students and I used the materials to paint designs onto the silk scarves. We ordered enough scarves for each student including an extra scarf. I plan on letting my students paint their own original scarves to take home. We used the extra scarf to create a "Class Scarf". This allowed my students to experiment with the silk paints and the salts and understand how to use the materials before they create their own.
For our next lesson I will be teaching my students about the history of silk painting and how it changed over the years. I plan for our next project to still include silk because I want my students to get used to new surfaces.”

50 Shades of Paint
Funded Jul 22, 2015I would like to thank you for your generosity. Your donation of paint has made it possible for me to develop a really nice unit for my middle school students. I designed a project-based learning unit where the students have to design a toy. They worked in groups and created their own toy store. The toys were designed to reflect the brand of their store and they used the paint to color and decorate the toy.
I let the students unpack the boxes without telling them what was inside and I only wish I had taken pictures of them doing it because they were so excited to see all that paint. They even offered to store it in the cabinets for me (of course they organized it in rainbow color).
Right now they are in the middle of decorating their toys with the paint and will be finished in another week. The last day of the project each group will present their businesses to the rest of the class.
Thank you again for helping us out with your donation. It means a great deal to us, especially in the arts.”

Screen Printing Intensive
Funded Nov 19, 2014Thank you so much for being the giving and generous person you are. Your donation gave our students one of the most incredible and enriching experiences so far this year. You've given them the opportunity to learn, grow, and excel and I wish I could say this to you in person (and give you a hug too).
My partner and I designed a two-week screen-printing entrepreneurship where students created their own custom t-shirt businesses. Your donations purchased everything they would need to start a business: screens, squeegees, cleaner, and inks. The pictures posted are only a glimpse of the amazing work that they produced. One group's company designed t-shirts that promoted awareness of endangered species; another made a series of hilarious quotes; one girl made a design inspired by Korean graphic novels. All of their hard work and effort was truly inspiring and they all appreciated the amount of work that goes into starting a business. You made that happen.
I can't tell you enough what your donation has done for our students and for art education in general. We appreciate your help and we want you to know that you've have made a difference. Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Baratta Kammerer
Come Paint Away With Me
Funded Sep 18, 2014Imagine you're back in school, sitting in your art class. Everyone is working on a painting but all you have to work with is copy paper and old paint trays. You only have green, brown, and orange to use because all of the other colors are nearly gone.
Thanks to you, these kinds of art classes are beginning to disappear. You have given me the opportunity to offer more fulfilling experiences with your generous donation of brand new paint. In my school I have created a choice-based art program that allows students to work and think as artists do. With choice comes a need for materials, especially good quality paint, which gives students an opportunity to experiment and acquire important art skills.
Your donation supports my goals of creating a rich and satisfying experience with art, the result being amazing paintings that my students are so proud to display.
Please enjoy the photos of some of the beautiful work made with your donations. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Ms. Baratta Kammerer
"Prints" Charming!
Funded Feb 13, 2014Thank you so much for your very generous donation of printmaking materials. Your kindness and generosity mean so much. I work in an all girls public school, in an area where poverty is high and resources are limited. It has been my goal as art teacher here to expose my students to as many forms of art-making as possible and to build a strong art program. Your donation has allowed me to continue with my goals.
I came up with the "Prints Charming!" project because printmaking is one of those art forms that is virtually unknown to teenagers. I decided to go with it knowing that my girls were going to have a blast. I mean, who doesn't like stamps? That's how I explained it to them, that we're making something like a stamp. I showed them all the materials we received through the donation and demonstrated the process. They were very eager to begin and once they started carving away on the linoleum, they were hooked.
Printmaking is addicting and the girls loved every minute of it. It's had such a profound impact on them and they wanted to learn other methods of printmaking which we are in the middle of now. They are continuing to use the cutters, inks, benchhooks and printing papers. Some students have discovered that they can make mini stamps by carving into erasers!
I can't thank you enough for your donation. This project has meant so much to them and has opened up their view of visual art, learning that there are many other methods of creation. You have started something that is unstoppable. Again, thank you”

Ms. Baratta Kammerer
