  • How to Eat Fried Worms

    Funded Dec 22, 2022

Thank you so much for providing the worms and worm composter! My first grade students are obsessed with the worms!

I was excited to see that many of them checked out books from the library about worms! At breakfast and snack time they enjoy sorting their compostable items for the worms.

My bug club members were also excited about holding the worms and learning about how worms benefit the soil. We watched a kid friendly video that deepened their understanding of worms.

These learning experiences were only possible because of your support and generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Newberry

  • What’s for Snack?

    Funded Dec 30, 2022

My students and I were very excited and grateful when our huge box of snacks arrived last week! They've been excitedly waiting for snack time each day and it's really motivated them to get their work done so they can take a little snack break.

In addition to your support, I also appreciate that you are sending a strong message to my students that people DO care about their academic and hunger needs!

Your donation has offered yummy treats but has also modeled ways that people can help other people.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Newberry

  • Do You See What I See?

    Funded Dec 1, 2022

Thanks so much for supporting my students and their literacy skills! We have been practicing using the popcorn sight word games and my students have expressed a lot of excitement about developing their sight word fluency!

Sight word fluency is so important for students at this age because it allows them to read text that they have not learned the phonics rules for decoding yet. Thy can focus on the meaning and comprehend the text without the frustration of encountering a word that they don't know how to decode- yet!

    Thanks a trillion!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Newberry

  • Math Family Fun!

    Funded Nov 4, 2022

Thanks so much for supporting my students and their math skills! We have been practicing using the activities in the Family Engagement Kits. My students are super excited that they are going to have an opportunity to take the kits home to play with family members.

The parent feedback has been very positive and parents are super excited to have these resources to help their children develop important math skills in engaging ways! I can't wait to get these kits in their hands and see the impact this will have on their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Newberry

  • Dung Beetles Roll in a Lot of Dirt

    Funded Oct 12, 2022

Thank you so much for contributing to my project! My students have enjoyed using the puzzle, insect specimen kit and book to learn about bugs!

Our bug club will start again in January and these supplies will complement our learning and other resources very well!

In the spring we look forward to starting and maintaining a worm farm, creating a butterfly garden and learning about lots of creepy crawlies! These resources are going to make our learning so much more exciting!

These durable, high quality resources you provided are going to last for several years, which will allow multiple students an opportunity to use them!”

  • What's for Snack?

    Funded Oct 6, 2022

Thanks so much for the yummy snacks!!! They arrived yesterday and our cafeteria didn't provide a snack today, so these snacks are extra appreciated!

The students are also extra excited about the yummy varieties they have to choose from!

Thank you for caring about my students and their success! Thanks for also understanding that kids learn better when they aren't distracted by hunger!!!

I know you have lots of great classes to support and I'm very appreciative and honored that you chose mine!!”

  • Paper Shmaper

    Funded May 13, 2022

Thank you so much for providing an alternative to boring pencil/paper tasks while practicing spelling words, sight words and creative writing!

My students beg to use the LCD boards to practice spelling words daily! It honestly is one of their favorite things to choose during literacy centers.

I was very impressed when the boards arrived to see how durable they are. The boards will last for many years and will allow hundreds of students opportunities to benefit from using them.

I really appreciate your generous contribution and support for my students!”

  • Really Amazing Kids!

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for contributing to my project on Donorschoose! My students have enjoyed the subscription to RAZkids immensely! They use the program to build their reading skills independently while I work with small groups.

The great thing about RAZkids is that they can use the program anywhere! This helps parents who want to help their students, but may not know how to help them. It is an amazing resource that really engages kids to learn!

Not only is it helpful that you provided this support to my students, but you are also teaching them about gratitude. They are very appreciative that people care and support them, as am I!”

    With gratitude,

  • If You Can Read This Thank a Teacher!

    Funded May 12, 2022

Thank you so much for contributing to my Donorschoose project! You wouldn't believe the impact it has already had on my students! Everyday during literacy centers they use the Phonics Builders to create CVC words. Some of the students are almost ready for the more advanced Phonics Builders. This will add one more tools for them to use to strengthen their literacy skills.

The scratch paper has really been a fun way to practice weekly spelling tests. Instead of approaching the task of practicing their spelling words with dread, I'm hearing a lot of enthusiasm!

Thank you so much for helping me provide my students with engaging opportunities to learn!”

  • Successful First Graders!

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you for supporting my students and their education achievements. The materials have arrived and students have enjoyed using them to further develop their literacy and math skills.

The money puzzles and stamps have helped students develop coin and value identification, while some students are taking their knowledge further and adding coin values to determine total amounts.

The scratch paper arrived at the end of our astronomy unit and offered students a chance to create outer space inspired art that they write descriptive paragraphs about.

The listening center cds have been a popular item during interventions where students have increased their listening and comprehension skills while listening to quality stories on cd.”
