  • A Snake Can See through Its Closed Eyelids.

    Funded Aug 2, 2012

Thank you so much for providing my students with subscriptions to Time For Kids. I can't convey how much my students look forward to receiving their weekly magazines, or how much their literacy development has improved as a result of having access to these magazines!

The magazines are super engaging and supportive for beginning readers. My students love reading them all week, and then taking them home to share with their family members.

The posters you provided have opened my students' eyes to the wide diversity in this world. My students love seeing and discussing the posters that depict children from around the world.

Thank you for caring about the students in my class and supporting their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Newberry

  • A Girl and a Frog Riding a Unicorn to a Rainbow Party.

    Funded Oct 15, 2012

Thank you so much for providing the art paper, smelly markers and canvases. My students have been happily creating wondrous works of art!

Our class motto is, "Work hard now, play later". The supplies you provided have inspired my students to work hard throughout the day, so that later they are able to choose between art, block play, dramatic play, computers or science.

Our art center is so much more inviting now that we have our new supplies. My students think they are "playing" but they don't realize how much they are really learning!”

  • From Scribbles to Sentences

    Funded Aug 10, 2012

Thank you so much for contributing to my project. The supplies arrived after school yesterday and I was able to organize them for students to use today. I explained to my students that donors purchased the items because they wanted the students to work hard in school and have some fun supplies to use while they learn how to write. One of my students said, "Those donors are nice!"

I was very impressed with the quality of items that I received. The clipboards and dry erase boards will outlast the year, which will allow even more students opportunities to use them. The dry erase markers are durable and of high quality. They are perfect for small hands!

The enthusiasm in the writing center was high! Students were eager to write their names, alphabet letters, and word wall words. Each student had an opportunity to work in the writing center, and thanks to you, there were plenty of supplies to maintain their interest!

I look forward to a successful school year with my students and deeply appreciate the support you have provided.”

  • Mud Days

    Funded Feb 22, 2012

Thank you so much for providing the water pipes and sensory tubs. We have used the tubs and pipes outside and in the classroom. Last Friday was our first, "Mud Day". Many parents provided items to explore in the tubs. We filled the tubs with baking soda and vinegar for making volcanoes, corn starch and water, sand and alphabet cookie cutters, and float/sink objects.

Students had a great time discovering concepts and unusual properties. Afterwards, students recorded their observations in journals and participated in a class discussion about their experiences.

The students are looking forward to another "Mud Day" tomorrow. They are having so much fun using these supplies while also developing language, social, science, math and literacy skills!

Thank you for caring about my students!”

  • Weird Science

    Funded Feb 4, 2012

Thank you so much for funding this project! I hope I can convey in this letter how appreciative I am of your generosity!!! My students absolutely love the fun science supplies!

Our worms arrived last week and we started our worm compost. Students are observing them, handling them very gently and writing lots of interesting things about the worms! It is so much fun to toss our food wastes in the compost and watch them decompose.

The bug viewers have also been a big hit. We have read about how bugs view the world and the bug viewers have helped us understand how things look through bug eyes!

The bug book and CD have been a fun way to learn interesting bug facts. It is fun for the students to sing along as they learn about life cycles, bug body parts, and what bugs need in order to survive.

We are excitedly anticipating the arrival of the ladybug larvae. They should be arriving early next week. Our ladybug habitat and life cycle poster are set up in the science center.

You have not only helped provide meaningful academic experiences, but you have also taught a group of 22 five year olds to respect and appreciate nature. You have also shown them that people care about their happiness and success.

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Newberry

  • "A Man Paints With His Brains and Not With His Hands"

    Funded Nov 28, 2011

Thank you so much for providing the art supplies! My students have had a great time using them. Our class motto is, "work hard now, play later". They work hard each morning developing important reading skills, then after lunch, we return to the classroom for enhancement centers. During that time they get messy and creative with the paint. It really adds a lot of cheer to our day.

The paint quality and quantity is fantastic! The gallon size bottles are going to last a long time. The paint colors mix well together to create vibrant colors!

Thank you so much for understanding and supporting the importance of art in the classroom! ”

  • Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!

    Funded Feb 21, 2012

Thank you so much for contributing to the project, "Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh, My". The books and plants you provided enhanced our field trip experience greatly.

Everything arrived just in time. Our students were able to enjoy the nonfiction books about animals prior to our field trip. They were also able to plant the Desert Hot House Kits shortly before our zoo experience. The books are going to last a long time, and will benefit many students.

The field trip was amazing! The weather was perfect and we had many parent volunteers. The experience would not have been the same had we not used the books prior to the field trip and after. The Desert Hot House Kit is on our window sill in the science center. My students observe its growth daily.

Thank you for caring about and supporting the Kindergarten students at my school.”

    Funded Jan 1, 2012

Thank you so much for providing the awesome new math supplies. They have really spiced up our math tubs and enhanced student learning!

Everyday students work in pairs to complete two math tubs. Thanks to you, I am able to offer exciting activities for students to use while having fun developing important math skills! My students are eager to learn and often comment about how much fun math is!

I am so impressed with your willingness to help students that you have never even met! My students and I are very appreciative!”

  • Cozy Reading

    Funded Dec 16, 2011

Thank you sooooo much for funding this project!!! My students were so excited when 2 large boxes arrived. We opened the boxes to find a cozy, kid size couch and a tent-like, cozy, reading retreat! These cozy reading spots have inspired lots of great reading! Students are using these reading spots throughout the day.

Thank you so much for caring about my students and their success! The pictures I took really do not convey the enthusiasm my students have for the nice furniture you provided. The quality of the furniture will ensure that lots of students benefit for many years from your kind contribution

    Thanks!”

  • There IS a Cure for the Summertime Blues!!!

    Funded Mar 8, 2011

Thank you so much for funding my project. I don't think words can convey how excited my students were to receive these wonderful sets of books. The boys absolutely loved the Spiderman Phonics Boosters and the girls were thrilled to receive the Hello Kitty Phonics Boosters. The parents were quite pleased that you provided their children with such wonderful books.

I am confident that your generosity has allowed my students to maintain their literacy skills that they worked so hard to achieve during the school year.

Thank you again for caring so much about my students and their success!”
